Dear Editor; I Just want to share with the readers of the Standard the treat I experienced In being master of ceremonies for the Governors Annual Chrlstmaa Party when our entertainment was provided by the Union high School Choir under direction of Mr. Murell Johnson. Mr. Johnson has a rare ability to coax music from a group of untrained students. He has done a superlative Job in bringing their musical gifts to a stage where they can provide such delightful entertainment. Everyone In the audience was most appreciative and applauded the effort of the choir In coming so far to share their talents with us. I think our only problem In revitalizing rural America Is in providing jobs and opportunities for these talented young people to stay In the areas In which they are raised. I hope the community will get behind the efforts of Mr. Johnson and other publlc-splrltcitizens to provide an auditorium of adequate size In Roosevelt to help these students acquire the abilities they will need in this modern I was proud to tell the audience that these students were from my home town. I feel that their accomplishment here was as great as some of the highly publicized athletic expeditions. Sincerely, Gordon E. Harmston Executive Director Dear Editor: The whole "Hawks and "Doves argument over the Vietnam War seems peculiarly phony to mel Why Is It that very few outside of the John Birch Society, Barry Goldwater, or George Wallace Is advocating WINNING? Now, how can you, as one little ole citizen in this big, wide country of ours, be of any help? Well, take a minute and think about a U.S. Savings Bond. Thats right, a U.S. Savings Bond. But what if everybody in this country were to throw their hands up in despair and say they don't give a hoot Indeed, there would be no tomorrow. But fortunately, Americans have a way of solving their problems. And that's just what's going to happen in these troubled tunes.
