A small, but enthuslaatlo group of youngster turned out to compete in the weckiong contest for prim for button sale winners. The contest will clime this Saturday evening. According to Dolores Grunewald, chairman of the UBIC for 1966, this celebration is not a free" show, in that it costs nearly 93,000 anualiy to stage the affair. It is hoped that booster button soles will produce sufficient revenue to rover these costs without charging for the evening talent shows, as was done last year. The button sales are being started early this year In order to get the buttons spread out as widely as possible to provide advertising potential for the VBIC which brings people from various parts of the state to the Basin. By way of financial review, Mrs. Grunewald pointed out that costs of previous years celebrations have run approximately as foilowa: Queen pageant, $493.19; prises for dances, $570.76; float prizes, $100; printing and bosster button costs, $492.00; baby show, $22.80; talent shows, $55.75; sports equipment, $18.11 ; water show, $80.00; dance bands, $169.20; hishion and flower show, $41.23; sound system, $280.00; bund for slogan, $18.75; publicity, $113.13; additional equipment each year (spot light) $268.52; electric expense, $3.44; telephone, $85.77; miscellaneous expensr, meals and motel for judges, and visiting celebrities, $150.00; kids celebrity, $85.00; kids CONSOUMTKM VOLUME 10 NUMBER 21 . ROOSEVELT, DUCHESNE services to be held Friday Students begin their long summer vacation today, and as the teachers are busy bringing ail the loose ends together so that they can enjoy a summer of "peace and quiet, the mothers of the area are faced with the task of keeping the battle-fron- t quiet during the summer. For today's seniors leaving school, a tremendous challenge lies ahead. They are faced with black clouds of world unrest, but on the other hand they face a period of growth in the world that has never .been are matched. Opportunities limitless for those who have the fortitude and drive to become part of the show. One thing the seniors should remember is the fact that the decisions they make during the next few years, will chart their course for the rest of their lives. They have been helped along through their schooling, but now they are cast out into the cold, old world. They must now prove themselves in the school of hard knocks. Good luck, seniors! Besides this spectacular thrill show, the entertainment will also include 50 laps of stock car racing featuring local drivers.
