SIXTEEN-YEA- In ROAD TEST R and 1912 the United States Bureau of Public Roads sponsored a series of tests of various surfacing materials, including brick 1911 lavement, macadam; cement and as- phalt. Now, in a report recently issued; it is stated that after 16 years of hard service; the brick and asphalt surfaces have required least repair. This exhaustive experiment is in full, accord with the reports from many localities. The modern trend of paving secondary and market roads; is bringing asphalt into prom-- , inence, as fulfilling all the necessary conditions without excessive cost.
