Show MILFORD DISTRICT GIVES PROMISE one of the THE Moscow mine, properties to be opened up in the famous old Star district, near Milford, founded by Matt Cullen, teamster, Civil War veteran, soldier of fortune, part owner of the Horn Silver mine, and millionaire, is the scene of one of the most signficant development projects in Utah. Headed by Garritt Wilkin, Salt Lake mining man, and L. F. Merritt, New York Capitalist, the Moscow Silver Mines company plans to sink its three compartment shaft from the 1400 to the 1500 level to search for deposits that in the upper levels produced $1,500,000 or more in silver lead. The Geology of the Moscow ore body is impressive. On the old Burning Moscow claim, located in 1870,. rich surface ore deposits outcropped in a white limestone belt that was productive at numerous intervals in various old mines for a distance of over 4 miles. When faults were struck, mining ceased, for the held that the floor of the deposit had been found except at the Moscow where surface showings were later followed by Mr. Cullen and Mr. Wilkin through the mountain from the west side to the east side, a horizontal distance of 1760 feet and to a vertical depth of over THE ORE BIN The Star of Utah mine, at Park City, is running three shifts of men in an endeavor to hasten completion of the companys main development and drainage tunnel. Control of the Park-Galemines passes to the Mayflower Mines company of which Charles Moore is president. na On the 1200 level of its Desert area, the Chief Consolidated, at Tintic, will sink and raise on the new fissure and drift along its strike to the southwest. The Tintic Standard is reported to have opened up a large body of gold quartz ore in its Eureka Standard property. Severe winter conditions have delayed the installation of the electric hoist at Eureka Standard mine at Dividend, Utah. LOWER SERVICE CONNECTION CHARGES ARE ANNOUNCED old-time- rs 1100 feet., A winze now being sunk on the 1400 level has followed ore down to the 1565 level and ten carloads, netting from $800 to $1,000 each, have been shipped. The company is now following a strong east-we- st fissure toward the limestone beds where the continuation of the ore bodies so productive in the Silver, Back and Gold stopes are expected to be found. Should this venture succeed, mining at Milford will receive a strong impetus and another mining camp in the making will be placed upon the map. Utah coal mines produced more coal in February 1929 than they did last year at the same time. DONNELL & CO. MORTICIANS I Wasatch 6461 I Salt Lake's Finest Funeral Home j 32 South Fourth East !
