Show THE Cl T I ZEN 4 , ings through colored glass which makes the city look like fairy land. Never before in the history of this city have the merchants shown so much Christmas spirit, and shop windows and business houses are decorated in a maze of glimmering colors, as well as displaying beautiful and attractive merchandise, with sale prices marked down within the reach of all. The streets are crowded with Christmas shoppers, all obligating themselves to their last penny to make someone happy. ; The uniting of families, prejudices and illwill flung aside, with a welcome to all at the door, it sure does make life worth the living. The Citizen extends its congratulations to all for a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. money is going, and where it has been going the past few years, when we have not been making extensive improvements. It appears to us that the city commissioners would gladly invite an audit and forever stop these rumors on the street. If some of the figures that have been submitted to us are correct, the people will be dumbfounded in the loose way our money has been handled, and the expose can only come through a special and thorough audit of the city accounts from beginning to end. A check book may balance with the bank, but that does not tell the story. Let us have a thorough audit, even if it costs $50,000. It will be the best investment the taxpayers of this city have ever made. : TELEGKAM XMAS PARTY A bright spot of the Christmas week for the children was the big Christmas theater party which the Telegram and the Pantages theatre gave for 2,500 boys and girls of the city Friday morning at the Pantages theater.
