MARCUS SECURES FEATURES Louis Marcus, general manager of the Louis Marcus Enterprises, returned home Sunday evening after a months sojourn in California cities. Speaking of his vacation, the first in fifteen years, Mr. Marmus declared the motion picture Industry to be making rapid strides in producing only the better class of pictures and stated that many new features were in store for the theatre goers of Salt Lake City. Probably the FIRST APPEARANCE George Arliss will make his first appearance as Shylock in William Shakespeares 'The Merchant of Venice under the direction of Winthrop Ames on January 9, in the Shubert theatre, New Haven, Conn. His New York season will begin on Monday night, January 16. AS ZACHARIAH PIPP Leslie Howard, who is featured in Winthrop Ames production of John Galsworthys Escape in the Booth theatre, New York, made his stage debut in Manchester, England, as Zach-aria- h Pipp, in The Mormon and His Wives.
