Show THE CITIZEN appearing and disappearing girls in trunks and boxes, the floating woman in air, and all made to vanish with the snap of the finger, creates an uncanny feeling among those who witness the apparent supernatural magic and the great magician accomplishes the mys-tifying feats with such ease and pre cision that the people cannot believe their own eyes. The act is a wonderful display of the magician's art at its best. In Old Kentucky, a feature picture of halcyon race track days, owners and the many ups and downs of the race track life is vividly and Ideally depicted by James Murray and Helen Costello, supported by a big cast, In one of the finest screen pictures of the day. The famous horse Queen Bess brings riches to her owner after he had lost his all in this world, In one of the most sensational races ever seen on a track, and also brings back a wayward son who had fallen by the way-sid- e in the army, whose temporary ambition was to gamble and drink, and who finally awoke that he was carelessly throwing away the greatest op portunity in this life a respected and influential citizen and the love of a beautiful girl. His reform and the return to his family and his first love are thrillingly made to finish the pic-- COMEDY A ND HILARITY ARE PANTAGES FEATURES Comedy is the outstanding feature at the Pantages theatre this week ending next Tuesday night, the high class show being one of the best of the season. The audiences are tuned up to a high point of hilarity and several of the vaudeville acts would ordinarily be a whole show in themselves. Those who like fun and wholesome amusement should not miss this weeks pre sentation which provides over three hours of mirthful entertainment for less money than can be seen at any other show house in the country. Tampa, Englands court magician, who is heralded as the entertainer of kings, and the king of entertainers, in Thurston and Kellar mysteries, presents a combination of mysteries, tricks and illusions such as have never beien witnessed on a local stage. The side-splitti- ng comedy skit, which is in- fused with some snappy dancing and singing. The Emory Manly company presents some unusually pleasing imitations of barnyard noises in their skit, Spring-time Pastimes They are a trio of ex- cellent whistlers and their renditions, accompanied by the orchestra, brought many encores. Stanley Chapman, in a really funny nonsensical act, Swissing the Swiss, gave a burlesque on scaling the Alps by ascending an unright piano. Lee and Cranston offered some pleasing melodies and a clever Irish monologue in Mary, Queen of. Shots. Mr. Lees singing of My Wild Irish Hose brought considerable applause. Harry E. Erickson at the organ; the Pantages orchestra, directed by R. E. Runswick, and a short reel feature, Football Sense, completes the bill. ANOTHER MYSTERY PLAY FOR THE WILKES PATRONS The Ghost Train, that spectacular mystery play that thrilled staid old London for a year and enjoyed a long successful run In New York, will be next week's shivery presentation of the Wilkes Players at the Wilkes the- atre starting with the matinee Sunday. Arnold Ridley, whose Ingenuous brain and facile pen are responsible for The Ghost Train, has taken the vicinity of Rockland, Maine, for his locale and has woven around the story of a phantom locomotive a thrilling and tense melodramatic plot.
