Show . The reception, which is in the hands of special committees, will no doubt be the biggest affair in the history of this state. Short speeches will be made by Congressman E. 0. Leatherwood, Governor George II. Dern and Mayor C. Clarence Neslen, and the Colonel will also make a fifteen-minut- e speech. The exact spot has been selected at the aviation field for the landing of the Spirit of St. Louis and the plane will be roped off in order that all those who choose may see this, most famous of all planes, which was Lindys only pal on his flight across the Atlantic. years of its existence has given a strong and steady hand to the work of empire building. It has realized that the welfare of Salt Lake depends upon the welfare of the entire state, and to that end it has directed its efforts. The Chamber has now passed through what might be termed its period of adolescence, and turns to the future with sound and mature judgment, strength and prestige. It urges the people of Salt Lake City and the state of Utah to with it in realizing the promise that is held forth and working along sane and practical lines to build a bigger and better city and state, keeping in mind: Cities do not grow they co-oper- ate are built. NEW AMERICAN THEATRE. JUSTICE. The inside decoration of the American Theatre, which theatre is now under the able management of Ed. S. Diamond, is a work of art, and much credit is due to Hugo II. Clawson, decorator, for its present splendid appearance. The auditorium is done in modern Roman color scheme, grayish tan, ivory and old rose, with wall panels in a green silk imitation, the motif for these panels having been taken from an old tapestry. The inner lobby and foyer has been treated in modern Roman with a touch of Italian renaissance, with a color scheme of e ivory and greenish blue with a panel design, in greenish d Italian renaissance pilaster panels in blue, and various colors. The outer lobby is a continuation of the ancient artistic designs, the color scheme being tan, red and blue. The vestibule is Italian renaissance; the color scheme is gray, tan and blue. The frieze above marble is an ancient Italian tile pattern in blue, old gold, red and black. At the official opening of the new theatre last Wednesday evening, Manager Diamond was unable to take care of the large crowd and he was greatly complimented upon the complete renovation of the theatre and its beautiful artistic design. The long delayed trial of Sacco and Vanzetti, in which it took seven years to try, condemn and put to death two alleged murderers, should be ample warning to our government that there is something wrong with our slow system in prosecuting criminals and meting out justice. Long trials only create doubt as to the guilt of prisoners. Because, if they are guilty, and the proof is absoltue, why the long drawn out trial? For seven long years these two men were confined in their prison cells wtih the noose dangling above their heads, and their punishment must have been something terrible. The longer the trial was prolonged, the more firmly were the radicals convinced that the two men were not guilty. In fact, the trial was drawn out so long that red propaganda in their behalf was circulated all over the world, and now our Federal representatives in foreign lands are living in daily fear and dread of being ruthlessly murdered at any moment in revenge of the two condemned men. Some of our foreign consulates have been guarded with large forces from the army and the police and all sorts of rumors are floating through the air and open threats made for revenge. We preach against radicalism and bolshevism, and yet we do the very things to prolifically breed the disease. In England, these two men would have been convicted or turned loose years ago, and their case entirely forgotten. Just laws properly enforced makes respect for the law, but no one can have respect for an unjust or manipulating law, and unjust laws only only breed contempt for all law. The courts, in dragging out this case, only played in the hands of the reds, and as a natural result inflammatory speeches are hurled at us from all quarters of the globe. Just laws properly enforced makes respect for the law, but law is obeyed. Bolshevism does not prevail nor can it live where such conditions exist. twro-ton- hand-painte- RELIABLE CROP. The sugar beet is one of the most dependable farm crops in western states. Due to the policy of the big sugar refining companies, there is always a sure market with a minimum price fixed, and the farmer who puts in a few acres of sugar beets is sure of his tax money and spare change for the winter. There is no better sugar than that made from beets and the industry should be fully protected by our government from outside interference. Without proper protection, sugar factories would become idle and an industry which supplies bread and butter for thousands of farmers and workmen, would be nipped in the bud, and our nation left entirely dependent on foreign sugar supplies. so-call- ed MEXICO WITHIN RIGHTS. .
