The national advertising campaign being conducted by the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce reaches nearly 42,000,000 readers. 1400 combined rail and automobile tourists have visited Salt Lake daily since I May 15. Near the city eleven canyons, Great Salt Lake, the cave, Mt. Timpanogos, the largest open cut copper mine in the world and many scenes of historical interest attract the visitor. Salt Lake is the trading and industrial center of the intermountain West. The state leads in metal production $66,000,000 in 1924; is second largest producer of sugar beets; is the leading canning state, over 2,500,000 cases of fruits and vegetables a year shipped 3272 cars in 1924. Utah produces of the alfalfa seed of the United States. It is the livestock center d of one of the greatest sheep and cattle areas in America. With practically all basic metals, unlimited chemicals, oils, coal, water power, wool, cattle, wheat, etc., Utah has a splendid opportunity as a leading state in manufacture. Building reflects progress and growth. New homes, apartment houses and commercial institutions are dotting the skyline of Salt Lake. To June 30, 728 building permits had been issued, representing a total valuation of $3,016,580. This is an increase of $746,507 valuation over last year, which at once signifies an expansion of industry.
