Show T H E C 10 I acts as a clearing house 'through which the needs both of the producer and the manufacturer are met. MINERAL SERVICE BUREAU OF 8. P. TO DEVELOP INDUSTRY. . Establishment of an Industrial Minerals Service Bureau, under supervision of its Geological department, is announced by the Southern Pacific company. Comprehensive data concerning decomposits of minerals suitable for mercial purposes is being gathered for use of manufacturers in all parts of the United States and even in foreign countries. Thousands of questionnaires, upon which are listed commercial minerals needed for production purposes, have Replies been sent to manufacturers. from, these now are being received by the bureau. These returns giving the needs of factories for minerals are being checkreceived by ed with detailed-reportthe Industrial Minerals Service Bureau of the railroad showing the minerals available in various sections of the west. Samples of minerals obtainable in commercial quantities are tested by the geologists and, when necessary, other investigations are made to acconcurately determine the situation cerning needed supplies. The bureau is working in close cooperation wTith chambers of commerce and public officials of states and cities served by the Southern Pacific in order that this phase of industry may be developed to the fullest extent. Reports from various parts of California, Oregon, Arizona; Nevada and New Mexico state that the bureau already is proving a big factor in developing important industrial activity, Theservice bureau of the Geological department comprises a part of the general plan of the Southern Pacific to materially aid in developing west-erstates served by it. The bureau In the United States there is a tor to every s n 724 doc- persons; England has one to 1,087 persons; while Central Europe has only one doctor to every 2,000 to 2,500 persons. POST OFFICE MAIL. One of the important features in the Shop Early, Mail Early campaign, which is being put on throughout the country by the Post Office department, is the proper addressing and securely wrapping of Christmas packages. When you wrap your ChristnAas pack, ages, wrap theni securely, put your address in the upper left corner, so, if by any chance, it should go astray, it can be returned to you and not sent to the dead letter office. The good folks of our community last year helped to bring joy and happiness to hundreds of thousands of postmen and clerks. Lets do our shopping early and mailing early again this year, so that we may again enable the postmen and the post office clerks to eat their Christmas dinners home with their families and at the same time assure ourselves of having our Christmas presents delivered to our friends in order that they may be opened on Christmas morning.
