Show THE CITIZEN f With the First Nighters VARIED HIGH CLASS BILL AT PANTAGES THEATRE The Courtney sisters, presented by William Morris in a song recital, accompanied by their ultra string quartette, Messrs. Tripp, Balfe, Nussbaum and Wilkinson, is probably the classiest individual act ever seen on the Pantages stage and headlines a very popular bill at the theatre this week. Florence and Fay Courtney have splendid voices, especially the contralto, which has phenominal range, and the girls possess winsome personalities as well. This act is artistically staged and the members wear beautiful costumes. The classic and popular selections played by the orchestra of four is pleasing and their work is of an unusually high order. Cuba Crutchfield in A Breeze from the West, gives an exhibition of lariat manipulation, which may be equalled but never excelled. He is considered one of the very best ropers in the country and his work is his best reference. His jests and funmaking chatter during his rope performance makes a hit with the audience. The Melford trio presents tumbling and acrobatic juggling stunts unique in method and demonstrating exceptional skill and strength required to accomplish the many feats. Harry Murray and Jean Maddox in Chow keep the house in laughter as they dish out their fun making material. Jean is inclined to be a little tough but she is not vulgar and car ries well with excellent support from her partner. A pantomimic and clever stunt is presented by Bud Snyder and Bluch and company into which a bicycle is introduced along with good comedy and a skit which is full of many surprises and liked by the audience. Pleasure Mad, a Metro special, presents the phenominal change of a moderate family into the gayest of gay through the unexpected acquisition of wealth. The man loses his head temporarily and sows his wild oats, but is redeemed by a loving wife, even after he had gone astray. who is rated as one of the few women on the stage with a perfect voice will sing with Angelo Minghetti, Italian tenor, and Virgilio Lazzari, premier Italian basso, the prison scene from Mefistofele, Mr. Polacco will direct. Le Jongleur de Notre Dame, will draw the curtain at the close. WORLD FAMOUS OPERA COMPANY TO PLAY HERE MISS BERRYMAN TAKES LEADING ROLE IN The Chicago Civic Opera company will give a concert at the Tabernacle next Monday. In this company are some of the worlds best singers and it is the greatest aggregation of famous people of the operatic world ever assembled in the west. Rosa Raisa, the greatest dramatic soprano; Forest Lamont, American tenor, and Giacomo Rimini, baritone, as the principals in the Nile scene from Verdis Aida, sung In costume, under the direction of Maestro Giorgio Polacco, will be one of the features. Charles Marshall, the great American tenor, as Otello, his most famous role, and Georges Baklanoff, Russian baritone, as Iago, will sing the duet from Otello with Ettore Panizza, formerly of La Scala, Milan, conduct- Mary Roberts Rineharts Bab, a delightful comedy with Ann Berryman in the leading role, is presented at the Wilkes theatre for one week starting last Sunday evening. It is a play full of fun and laugh and one w'hich an audience never tires of seeing, especially when played by such competent actors as make up the Ralph Cloninger company. It is just one laugh after another. Poor Bab gets into all kinds of trouble and entanglements because she is determined to have some fun with others. She invents for herself a ready-mad- e financee with whom she plans to elope. Her plans are partly realized because of Carter Brooks, an old friend of the family, who recognizes the picture Bab has purchased which she claims as her sweetheart, but which in reality is an old chum of Brooks.
