Show THE CITIZEN thing he reads now that the years have robbed him of his own desires. It is a strange diversion to notice how age affects different men. Tolstoy danced along the primrose path almost until senility bade him rest, and then .he turned with voice of thunder in denouncing all those things which he could no longer enjoy. As artist, Tolstoy stands high to me, but for him as well as other eleventh-hou- r prophets I have little respect. But here are the two extremes, Harris who affirms that life is good until death, and Tolstoy with his negative doctrine. While I cannot agree that every great story must have its passing passion, or even every one in three, yet I readily admit that I prefer the gospel of Harris to that of the great Russian. Of the final views of Frank Harris on the deeper matters of life and death, I have yet to learn. Perhaps that coveted first volume of his Life will reveal the secret. I have so admired his wide talents and fearless attitude toward life that I have searched and looked in vain through most of his writings for some word indicating his views on thiS subject, which has so long been of intense interest to me. And in my inability to find that for which my curiosity drives me ever onward, I can only feel that in his full life he is following the principle laid down by Goethe when fie said, Give me your beliefs and affirmations; they encourage and stimulate me; but keep your doubts and fears to yourself; I have enough of my own. Two hundred invited citizens will attend a closed meeting at the Newhouse hotel tonight to formulate plans as to future action in municipal and political affairs in this city, county and state. At the time it was decided to perfect a permanent organization under the name of the Liberty league. The meeting tonight is to take definite steps for the perpetuation of the movement. No definite plans have been announced for tonight's meeting, but a majority of the people of this city hope that steps will be taken to put Utah on the map and to induce outside capital to come in. Statistics show that Utah possesses untold wealth according to expert geologists.
