L'i: ts be-co- ; Mutual. Coal company becomes one of the big coal mining properties of tne Vvest, and from now on it will be a big v factor, in the coal business, especially in Utah and Idaho. In these, two states a chain of coal, yards has been organ- ized.from which the people are being, supplied with coal that is as good as the. best and at greatly reduced prices to the stockholders. With the acquisition of the new property and an exchange of mining privileges with the Carbon Fuel com-- , pany, all the coal property of the Mutual company has now been consolidated and the company is at the present time producing over 1,000 tons of coal per Wrking day. This insures for the company a steady commercial business. The output can be increased to any desired number of tons per day, and from now on the Mutual Coal company will be one of the states best coal producers. Ond' feature of the company is that-alstockholders can purchase their coal at cost during the summer months when people should store their coal for the winter months. During the year 1921, 80,000 tons of coal were delivered by .the company; during the year 1922 there were 88,00 tons delivered, and it is estimated that the delivery to stockholders during the present year will go much over the hundred thousand ton mark. The saving on coal to the stockholders has been from $2 to $3 per ton, the price being based upon the loca4 for-extensiv- e , steel. The deposit lies in a blanket formation, exposed for a great extent and with no place more than ten feet of overburden topsoil. Assay sheets indicate that the composition is uniform throughout the entire body and runs in excess of two and per cent vanadium and pentoxide (V205). Test holes sunk at frequent intervals and cuts totaling several hundred feet have determined that more than 500,000 tons of this alloy are ready for immediate removal, with indications that tonnage of the entire body will probably treble that amount. one-ha- lf l - Market Values. At the present market, the vanadium content gives the ore a $50 ton value at the mine. Most vanadium is secured, however, through extraction from carnotite ores. When extracted, its value is trebled. Because of the lack of any need for extraction from the new deposit, the owners believe they should secure a considerable advance on the market for their ore. Vanadium is chiefly used in the making of high grade steel. It has a number of other uses and is rated among the most widely used of the rare metals. In the manufacture of steel it presents crystallization, gives added tensile strength, toughens and hardens the finished product. General practice calls for from of one per cent vanadium to oxide in making the highest grade of tool steel. Even infinitesimal amounts of this metal will impart to iron products a superior, quality. From experiments run in local foun-- . dries the contention of owners of this latest find as to its alloy qualities is borne out. As little as two per cent of the native ore has made a decided improvement in iron and steel cast ings . In these tests, the Emery county . product has been dumped in the fur-nace with the metal charge. When run off, it was found that the alloy had been completely absorbed by the metal and that the casting, was greatly improved over those lacking the alloy. The company is incorporated for 50,000 shares at a par value of $10 per share, but this stock is selling today at $12.50 per share, but in another year it is no telling what the price will be because of its present demand. Because of the purchase of the Morton coal lands for which the Mutual paid $350,000, it has been necessary to pface a small block of stock on the market, about 8,000 shares is all, which is selling for $12.50 per share. When this is gone no more stock can be secured except that which is held by. the individual stockholders and the stock wiil then rapidly increase in price. Dent Chamberlin, who started with i the company when it was first organized, has been placed in charge of the stbck selling department in Utah. He is! also in position to grant time in making monthly payments if such are desired. ,.A stockholder can .order his coal, which at the present Mutual price will be delivered for $7.25 per ton in Salt Lake City.
