His palace affords nu- merous vehicles fo: the accomplishment of such ends an inviting secret door that leads to a pit of quicklime cob as that are ready to strike when disturbed being among the instrumentalities but the p.ince, in spite of his philosophy, is human, and the ecstacy of love burns in his veins as well a3 in the men and women of . more common clay. The theft of the Moonstone from the idol near 'the palace of the prince the idol that is more than life itself to the h03t of worshippers in a land that England with difficulty holds under her control is taken as a hinge upon which to swing the thrilling story of passion, greed, superstition, love, caste and deception. Whitesides portrayal of the character of Prince Tamar is virtually flawless, and by this statement one means that neither in accent, depiction nor minor detail could Improvement be readily sugested. All of this support fits marvelously into every demand, w th Miss Sydrey Shields as Clarice Carttight holding lead as the chief feoiinino chaiacter in the mystery play, and Harold Vasburgh in the part of Denton Morgan, the hero, until almost the end of the story, being in the limelight. There is not a person in the cast who does not fit into the part as if that role has been the purpose of a whole career.
