M. C. Godbe, i ' t secretary and manager of the Prince Consolidated Mining and Smelting company, has issued a letter to the stockholders stating that it is essential to the further and complete success of this bond issue plan that a majority of the stock be placed with Anthony H. Godbe, former president of the company, prior to the date, October 6, of the next annual meeting and election of directors and officers. It is also stated that A. H. Godbe , I has no desire to become president of the company again, but wishes those who favor the present plan of financing the mine, which plan has produced over $40,000 to date, be fully represented and that officers favorable to be elected so that the this bond-placompany may go ahead and unwater and fully develop the big property. In a letter to stockholders carrying date of August 28, 1922, Anthony Godn be says in part: It is my opinion that the mine can be unwatered and the additional boiler installed in thirty days after an actual start is made, and knowing the mine as I do, I believe that sixty days thereafter will see the property at least on a basis of production that will bear all the costs of operating, and as additional development is done those profits will be greatly increased. The stockholders of the Prince company are under great obligations to the untiring efforts and hard work performed by the president, J. E. and General Manager M. C. Godbe in securing the sale of the Bullion-vill- e and Dry Valley tailings, and otherwise placing your company in its present excellent condition. It is vital for the future success of your company that the policy inaugurated by the stockholders at their meeting last May be safeguarded and strictly carried out. With that end in view, I respectfuly ask that you send me your proxy, which I enclose hereGal-igh- : i " j 'i IMPORTANT CONSOLIDATION OF PARK DISTRICT MINES. A highly important and interesting period of Park City mining has been started by the Park City Mining and Smelting company, in the big consolidation of properties west of the Ontario mine and along the Ontario, Daly and Daly West ore zones, under the guidance of George W. Lambourne. This new company has acquired the Daly West and West Ontario properties and is securing by exchange of stock the property of the Judge Mining and Smelting company. Although not in the consolidation the Daly mine is under the same management. It is interesting to note that this is in line with recommendation embodied in J. M. Boutwells report on the Park City district published by the United States Geological Survey in 1912, which report followed a detailed exhaustive examination of the camp. This report has proved so valuable that it is accepted by Park City operators as their text book on the geology and ore , oc-curran- ce of the district. After sketching the course of the various ore zones through the Ontario, Daly, Daly West and Judge properties on the fracture system which is broadly termed the Ontario, Mr. Boutwells report says, The above sketch of the great mines situated on the Ontario fracture system shows their resemblance in geology and in mode of occurrance and character of their ores in short, their unity. Such a unity requires for the cheapest, quickest, and. best operation that these several properties be consolidated and operated as a single miners to lay down their tools and go on strike, was repeated last week at Eureka in the Tintic district. The results were the same as those obtained at Bingham Canyon, the men refusing to have anything to do with the agitators. In the Bingham district the strike demand was signed by the I. W. W.; but in the Eureka case this phase of the matter was camouflaged by a long list of excessive demands on the mine operators. Utah gives promise of entering upon a long period of industrial and mining activity if operator and employer relations are not upset. Where and when the ubiquitous agitator hoves in sight he should be given short shift and if necessary tarred and feathered. . According to Alex Mattson the near future holds great promise for the Independence Mining company of the Tintic district, the property has been closed down for months during which time serious financial difvculties arose. These matters have now been ironed out, says Mr. Mattson, and preparations are being made to resume development work. The Independence people expect to use a Keystone electric drill in prospecting, the first hole to go down from the bottom of the 460 foot shaft. It is reported from the King Consolidated that prospecting goes steadily ahead with a small force of men at For.Cl great mine. MINING NOTES. Charles broke the spell as in a dejected tone of voice, he said ; Miss Glaser, I love you, but dare not dream of calling you mine. Yesterday I was worth $50,000, but today, by a turn of fortunes wheel, I have but a few paltry hundreds to call my own. I would not ask you to accept me in my reduced state. Farewell, forever! As Charles was about to stride mournfully away she caught him and eagerly cried: Reduced like Good gracious a bargain! Of course I take you!
