Everybody concealed his bitter feeling under a camouflage of merry quips. All agreed that the state committee should meet again to talk things over. Very, very pleasant and congenial and merry and all that, but Mr. Richards says that it is he and not Mr. A Wallace who remains chairman. pleasant, sociable, merry meeting is not sufficient to make a new state chairman or keep the remains of an old chairman remaining. It appears, according to the ratiocinations of C. L. Olson that Mr. Wallace is no longer of the peepul. Now a Democrat who is not of, by, for, with and amongst the people, is not safe for democracy. Mr. Wallace, of course, had not fully decided that he was against the people; in fact, he still though that his boat was fast moored to the Peoples Pier when along came C. L. Olson with his Bolshevik knife and severed the hawser. Mr. Olson declares that his opposition to Wallaces leadership is a purely political opposition, and is in line with the hope that the Democratic party in Utah shall remain the party which represents the welfare of all the 9 Thus it would appear that while all of us were sleeping comfortably our beds political highbinders were on the very verge of kidnapping the Democratic party away from the people and carrying it into the camp of the interests. And there is a plain hint that Mr. Wallace was aiding the highbinders. Just what Mr. Wallace was doing to guide the party into the hands of -- those who rule by power, pelf and privilege, Mr. Olson does not say. He contents himself with flinging the charge and avoiding hampering details. As a good Wilsonian Democrat he does not believe in reservations. For him black is black and white is white, a spade is a spade and Mr. Wallace is an unprogressive, plotting plutocrat. All of which tends to promote con- tent in Republican ranks and dissension among the Democrats.
