The Purdy-ReilleCompany handles Romer cars, the uck and the Grant Six. Grant Six owners are unusually keen about the style of the Grant Six. It is spoken of everywhere as an exceptionally smart model. Many have gone so far as to proclaim it hte worlds handsomest light six. This opinion is widespread. Whether it is the handsomest light six or not will remain a matter of opinion. But no one disputes the ) A fact that all four Grant body styles are amazingly smart. That this beauty is emphasized by the mechanical quality of the car is of highest importance. We are glad the Grant Six is fine looking, but we are prouder of its performance, comfort and dependability than we are of its beauty. Most cars perform well on the level. It is no secret that through the use of both annular and roller bearings, by the use of highest garde universal joints, and by the most effective lubrication of all working parts Grant Six power losses through friction are practically nil. It is this fact in connection with its light weight that makes possible its very satisfactory performance under all conditions. Back of this car is a history of five years of successful motor car building and a splendid record of over 50,000 Grants in use. However, the continual stopping for oil is entirely eliminated in the Stephens as one filling of the crank case is good for from six hundred to one thousand miles. This is due to the perfect oiling system used and practically no oil whatever is burnt or consumed. This oiling system is through a hollow crankinches in shaft, two and diameter. The oil is forced from a pump placed in the bottom of the crank case, through the crank shaft to every working part of the motor, therefore it is not dependent upon a splash or spray for its lubrication. There are a great many points of superior construction on the Stephens Salient Six wrhich must be seen to be appreciated. Eighteen miles to the gallon is no' exception to the ordinary user and in some instances mileage on the Stephens is as high as twenty-on- e miles to the gallon. This motor is constructed with the manifold on the inside in the shape of a hot wall or vaporizing chamber. After striking this hot wall the gasoline is entirely vaporized, then again this vapor strikes another hot wall before entering the intake valve. In this manner the vapor is superheated for ignition. Every drop of gasoline is vaporized, therefore, consumed for power, which makes the Stephens the most powerful motor of its size in America. The mileage on oil would be almost ID Hercules Bodies For Fords The average cost to operate and maintain a Ford car equipped with a Hercules commercial body is only about 2 cents per mile a remarkably low figure.
