It was officially opened by a of twenty-on- e guns at sunrise and from then until early next morning the celebration waa in progress with something happening every minute. Scores of beautifully decorated floats and can paraded through Main street at 10 oclock of the forenoon lead by the local band. Three first place prises were offered for the beat decorated floats. The Daughters of the Pioneers waa given the prize for the best decorated one' in the civic division. The Indians were awarded first in the miscellaneous and the Star theater had the best among the business houses. Miss Leona Gunderson represented Miss Columbia for the latter. Miss Ladyce Howe waa the Goddess of Liberty, having been chosen by popular vote over Miss Bessie Jameson and Louise Crandall The parade' was of spectacular beauty, being one of the picturesque features of the morning. After the parade a patriotic program waa given at the Latter-da- y Saints tabernacle, J. F. MacKnight being master of ceremonies. Invocation, Ernest S. Horsley. America was sung by. the assembly. B. W. Dalton was the speaker of the day. Mrs. E. K. Olson sang 4The Flag Without a Stain. Omar Bunnell gave Lincolns Gettysberg speech. O. J. Harmon offered the benediction. At 1 oclock of the afternoon there were sports of all kinds at Price City Park and at 3 oclock Price and Midvale gave the baseball fans of this section a treat by a fast and interesting game. The score ended seven to five for the locals. Following this came the swimming contest It was the feature of the day, aa this ia the first time anything of this kind had been successfully staged locally. The outstanding performers were Miss Leona Gunderson, the only woman contestant, and Gerald (Smithy) Manson of Kenilworth. Miss Gunderson not only competed with the best men divers of the county, but was awarded first prize for the swan and miscellaneous dives.
