Show 4 STANDARD-OCTO- BER to celebrate 80th Olive Miles 9, 1975 birthday Oct. 1 1 The family of Olive Miles will honor their ntot her at an open house on her 80th birthday, Saturday, October 11, at the Mill's home in Mt. Emmons, from p.m. Mrs. Miles was born October 8, 1895 in Daniels, Utah, and moved to the basin in 1914, when she still resides. She is the mother of ten children, forty five grandchildren and seventy five great grandchildren. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend the open house. The family request no gifts please. 2-- 6 District meeting held at Bottle Hollow UFWC Newcomers club held Members of the Uintah Basin District, Utah Federation of Women's Clubs, met October 2, at Bottle Hollow for their annual fall convention. The meeting was conducted by Martha L. Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. Crow celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary October 6. Couple honored on 60th anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Crow celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Oct. 6. They came to the Uintah Basin from Weiser, Idaho in 1927 where they settled in Monarch. They lived there until the fall of 1952 when they moved to Roosevelt and in the spring of 1970 moved to Vernal where they now reside, Mr. Crow has been a farmer, carpenter, plasterer and for several years, prior to a heart attack in January, 1964, he was city superintendent at the cemetery. They are the parents of 8 children (7 living) 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren. On Sunday, Oct 5, a family gathering was held in their honor at Split Mountain Campground. president. Mrs. Verl Peterson, Brigham City, made a slide presentation on the state's community improvement nroiect program. Utah is one of about 20 states that has 100 participation in this program in the United States. Prize money ranging from $10,000 to $50.00 is sponsored by Sears Roebuck Co. Mrs. Jack Ward, Salt Lake, UFWC junior public affairs chairman, talked about the problem of alcohol, and it's affect on society. Mr. Ron Egan, Roosevelt, represented the UBAVC, and showed slides of the new facility to be built on Lagoon street in Roosevelt, and talked about the people already using the facility here now. Mrs. Adclyn Logan, UFWC parliamentarian, read a message from the state president. Music for the evening was presented by a trio of Socialette ladies, Mrs. Pat Roberts, Mrs. Curtis Dastrup, Mrs. James Alvey, accompanied by Mrs. Terry Buxton. They sang the Federation adopted bicentennial song. Table decorations, and flowers were prepared by the Culture, and Socialette Clubs of Roosevelt. Members host Contract bridge Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Riggle hosted Contract Bridge, this week, at the Frontier Grill. Dinner and bridge was enjoyed by members attending. Prizes wen won by Mr. and Mrs. Leon Dump. The dub meets the first Saturday in each month. 1 8 Newcomers Club met for their first fall meeting at Frontier Grill Sept. 18. members and 6 guests Seventeen attended. A short business meeting was held with election of a new president after Bonnie Correll was transferred. The new president is Vicky Baucuum. A new secretary was also elected due to the resignation of Diane Wilkinson. The new secretary is Lee Davis. Visitors were Cindy Bostick, Vivian Iloffpauir, Terry Grimley, Ann Ray, Judy Willoughby and Dee Wirth. Small at The former Gwen Ross and Ron Theener were married during a double ring ceremony at the Bridgeland LDS chapel, September 26. 722-516- COUPLE WED IN CHURCH RITES SEPTEMBER 26 Fences bought for Roosevelt schools The former Gwen Ross, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Ross of Arcadia and Ron Theener son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Union high school and Roosevelt elementary school will have new fences installed. The sejiool board will purchase materials, and the two PTA's involved will Theener of Tiler, Idaho were married September 26 during a double ring ceremony in the Bridgeland LDS Ward Chapel, by Cecil Hanberg. A reception following the ceremony was held in the Cultural hall and the bride and groom greeted their guests against a setting of silver, with white arch entwined with blue and white flowers and floral arrangements on each side of the arch. The bride was lovely in a white floor length gown of lace over satin. The neck was scalloped, the sleeves long and fitted and the skirt belled. A shoulder length veil completed her ensemble. She carried" a bouquet of pink, and white mumsifd with blue ribbon. Maxine Houston a sister of the bride served as Matron of Honor, she was dressed in a blue and white floor length assist with the installation of the fences. A fence will be placed on the west side of the football field at Union high school. About 857 feet of fencing will be required, costing an estimated SI. 400. The PTA has matched funds with the school board tc purchase materials, and will provide manpower to install the fcncint. Roosevelt elementary's playground will be fenced. Representatives of the school's PTA met with the school board to describe , the hazardous play conditions at the school. PTA representatives offered to provide the manpower to install the fence if the school district can provide the materials. Approximately 1200 feet of chain link is required to fence the h playground. gates will be placed in the corners of the playground adjacent to street crossings. The newlyweds are making their home in Gillette, Wyoming. Senior citizens plan outing Senior citizens in the western part of Duchesne are County organizing programs and projects with Filippo Magistro, Community School director. The group will travel to Roosevelt Monday evening, October 20, to visit the Snyder Convalescent Villa. Senior citizens interested in the outing should phone Mr. Magistro at Duchesne high school at Mr. Magistro will arrange transportation for senior citizens to leave for Roosevelt at 6 p.m. The program at the nursing home will feature slides of Italy by Mr. Magistro. The senior citizens have expressed interest in several outings and projects; including visiting shut-inattending plays and pageants, square dancing, Utah history classes, touring the senior citizen center in Price, a picnic at Starvation Reservoir, and a speaker to give legal advice on wills. 738-256- s, 1 Mr. Alleman of Midvale United Methodist Church delivered the service Sunday.
