Show STANDARD NOVEMBER Conservation convention Nov. 15, 16, St. George 7, 1974 Farmers, ranchers and conservalonists are invited to join with local soil conservation district supervisors at their annual convention to be held at Four Seasons Molin' Inn, St. George, Utah, November 15 and 16, 1974. Meetings will feature experts in livestock, crops, water management, range development and community cooperation. Speaking to the theme of Produce More-ProtDeVere More", Dr. McCallister will discuss new plant and crop varieties for Utah. Sherm Harmer, executive secretary of the Utah Cattlemen's Association and a representative from Western general Dairies will speak about the future of the livestock and dairy industries in the state. Several facets of range devektpment will be explained. Horizontal well drilling and progress in cloud seeding are two more topics of general interest which will be covered. Women attending the convention are ina luncheon invited to participate meeting on Friday, November 15 and a tour of historical sites Saturday morning, November 16, 1974. Featured speaker at ect BIG BUCKDave Duncan, right manager of John's Sinclair in Roosevelt, presents a $100 check to Dave Goble, winner of the Big Buck contest sponsored by John's Sinclair. Mr. Goble, who is employed by Urathane, shot the buck in the Fruitland area during the second weekend of the hunt. According to Mr. Duncan the 12 point buck had an antler spread of 33 inches and was the biggest of the more than 200 entries in the contest. This is the first year the big buck contest has been sponsored by the Mr. Duncan but company, said it will become an annual affair. For parents with children at Todd Klementary meetings will be scheduled hetween the hours of 12 noon and 8 p.m., with a lunch break from p.m. Report cards will be sent home Thursday and parents are urged to return them when they visit on Friday. For West Jr. high visiting hours will be from p.m. with a lunch break from 5 6 p.m. Parents with students at West are asked to bring their child with them to school on Friday for a parent, teacher, and student conference. Report cards will he given to both the parent and student at that time. Teachers have asked parents to please take this opportunity to come and visit with their rhilds teacher, for the benefit of the child and teacher, as well as the parent. Ross and Mrs. Margaret Ross attended funeral services in Salt Lake on Wednesday for Mr. Noel Jensen a relative. The Mark Bleazard home was the scene of a family get together which included Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Freeman, Bountiful, Mrs. Marlene Harrison and family of LaPoint, Rachel Cole and friend, Salt Lake. Charles Lindsay, a friend of the Mark Auto accident claims life of Layton man An accident about 12:15 a.m. Monday morning 22 miles west of Duchesne, involving 3 horses and 2 motor vehicles resulted in a Layton man being killed and one man being hospitalized and the death of three horses. According to investigating officer Brent Boren of the Highway Patrol, the first vehicle, a 1967 Dodge Palera with California plates pulling a trailer owned and driven by Albert William Presler, 26, of San Mateo, California accompanied by his wife, Phyllis, 23, and a friend, Bruce Lindeman, 21, of Piedmont, California, struck three horses on the highway. Two of the horses were thrown off the highway one remaining on the road. Seconds later, a second car, a 1972 Plymouth Duster, driven by Bird A. Bice, 27, Uintah, Utah, and a passenger, Marvin A. Williamson, 30, Layton, colleded with the first vehicle, trailor and horse. Officer Boren stated a light rain had fallen just previously to the accident, making the road wet, and said the night being unusually dark made visibility very difficult. Mr. Williamson received head and chest injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Heber, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Mr. Bice was taken to a hospital in Salt Lake suffering from back injuries.
