Christensen If there were no truths at the bottom of false philosophies they would obtain no credence, and thus could never constitute a menace to the world. (Quote from World Revolution, pps 9, by Nesta Webster) u...the religions of the world are horrid monsters and real demons of humanity which swallow up allits RATIONALITY and happiness. (Quote from same book, p 10S, emphasis the authors. Ensuing emphasis mine.) This writer has discussed Community Involvement, PTA in an earlier column. The two quotations above will be enlarged upon and perhaps the reader will . see in the rest of this article the unfolding of these philosophies. Before me is the PTA manual mentioned, and noted above. I will paraphrase and quote some of rthe material found therein. It began in the home town of the Manion Forum South Bend, Indiana. Hardie Blake is a young black man who recently graduated from a South Bend high school. He is employed by IBM as a customer service engineer, and it was in that capacity that he. first visited the Manion Forum to repair some equipment. His second visit was in answer to a request by Dean Clarence Manion to be his guest on the Forum's weekly radio - It strictly voluntary, It began a little more than two years ago. The Principal was desirous of having a better relationship with the community and between the students there at the school because of things that were taking place in the community, because of racial problems, because of disturbances and unrest. He called open our classes with hymns and then we have prayer. We ask different students to pray. Students have said, Tve never prayed before in public. But never has a student refused to pray when asked. Then the topic of discussion is 'opened to the students. We use the Bible as our guideline. We a meeting of the ministers of various churches in the local area, and also a number of students and citizens. Out I find in the Declaration where of this meeting came of it1 says Independence that every man is created with certain unalienable rights by his Creator. Now if it is God who gave us these rights, we receive them from Guidelines. We have an average of. 17 or 18 students, both boys and girls, sometimes a few more. We talk about taken out of the government, then our rights are no longer given to us by God. If man can take God out, then where do we get these rights from? People like Hardie Blake have to get up at dawn to discuss their Creator and the way of life He envisions for them. They do this because the Supreme Court has decided they cant do it during school hours. In this particular case, I think, the good news in every way outshines the bad. That is why I thought youd like to hear about it. -- American Way Features Readers comments and questions are welcome. Please write us at The American Way Features , P.O. Here are some of the things he said: We call our program Guidelines. It is a class that teaches that the Bible is the best guideline in the world for all of mankind. It is held at Washington High School in South .Bend at 6:30 a.m. on Friday mornings. It is an extra activity and is not a part of "Why didnt I think of that?
