But what are Americans doing to stop this shameful state of affairs? They're saying nothing can be done! Incredibly, this nation is with facing its Bicentennial bitterness instead of joy apathy instead of action self pity instead of pride. But the key to unlocking this bondage of the American spirit and freedom has been given to us by of all people our opponents. The anti-gu- n, politicians, organizations, and media are waging a vicious campaign against NRA and our members. We have been called gun nuts, wildlife butchers, and worse. Even more insidious, we have actually been ridiculed because we are patriotic, because the Constitution, we honor because we defend the Second Amendment, and because we still believe in this country and in true democracy. Our forefathers who fought and died to win the cherished freedoms that are being taken away would be filled with shame and disgust at this turn of events. Those of us who have lived through some of this Nation's darkest hours know that even during the Great Depression and World War .II, Americans never gave up. We fought back and brought America back from the edge to new greatness. Yet now, look around and what terrible changes do you see: There was a time when firearms ownership was an honored tradition. Now, firearms, inanimate as they are, are portrayed as evil, and decent citizens who own them are somehow wicked. There was a time when a military man or a veteran had the respect of all citizens. Now he must often defend his service to his counng try. There was a time when a hunter was admired for his ability to put meat on the table for his " family. Now hes called a but- cher and killer. There was a time when a man who defended his home, his family, or a fellow citizen from criminal attack was a hero. Now he runs the risk of being treated like a criminal himself. (Liberty Lobby News Service) With all the current flap involving the war in the Sahara Desert between Morocco and Algeria, Spains decision to turn over her rich phosphate mines in the Sahara to King Hassan has been little noticed. Morocco is now the worlds largest phosphate producer. The other major phosphate deposit is in Florida...and you can bet its tied up solidly by the Rockefellers and our old friend Armand Hammer, the Red trader who is discovering how long hell have to go to jail for making an illegal campaign contribution. Sen. Richard Stone .) was formerly Secretary of State of Florida. When he learned that it was in the works to give the Russians $20 billion worth of phosphate and get U.S. taxpayers to finance the deal, he (D-Fla- conducted a lengthy investigation. In his report to the legisla- ture, according to Washington Observer in November 1974, Stone said, I want to report to you a phosphate giveaway to Russia worse than the Russian wheat deal. Phosphate means fertilizer, and phosphate means explosives and munitions. I believe that the phosphate deal with the Russians has the potential of being the most dangerous giveaway this country has ever seen. There presently exists in Florida a 10 shortage of fertilizer, the major use of phosphate. Because of recent government price control, it has been more profitable to export phosphates and fertilizers than to sell them domestically. This shortage of fertilizer is limiting food production and therefore i . ' . r, N driving up food prices. It is amazing to me how the Export Import Bank, an agency of the U.S. government, can make an unsecured loan of $180 million at 6 or 7 interest, while the people of the state of Florida have to pay 10 interest. I talked with Senator Srones office to see whether anything had changed in the Florida phosphate deal. Nope, said the Senator, they are mining and shipping the phosphate and his suit to expose the Export-Impo- rt loan is still being litigated. Armand Hammer, who has been trading with the Soviet Union for many years, was the illuminating force behind the phosphate giveaway. Hammer claims the Reds are going to use the phosphate for agriculture production, but there is no assurance it will not be used to manufacture munitions. It becomes a little clearer now just why the CIA was so active in Morocco and Spain. They wanted to get the phosphate mines in the Spanish Sahara into the hands of King Hassan, where in turn the international bankers could control the production of the worlds phosphates. Spain said she sold the mines to Hassan. Where do you suppose he got the money to pay for mines? Hes been supported, militarily and economically, by American taxpayers for many years. The taxpayers also get to pay Spain about four times as much for the U.S. air bases in Spain as they were paying before the phosphate deal. Once again, we find the CIA striving mightily around the world in the best interests of the U.S....and wonder of wonders, in almost any area of the world where you find an active CIA, you also have an active international banker protecting the oil wells, gold mines, phosphate, natural gas, and so forth. Now if we could just get the bankers to pick up the tab, wed have it made. Reader's comments are welcome.
