Show The Paper That Dares To Take A Stand October 30, 1975 The Utah Independent Page 9 THE E.P. THORNTON COLUMN CAN LIBERTY BE WON WITHOUT RISK? W' Vaughn Ellsworth The Patriots who won our Independence could have been hung as traitors by the British. They were willing to take the risk. They took the risk. Two hundred years later, patriots are again taking the risk whatever may be the cost, to again win back their Liberty. Recently a friend of mine received a letter to this effect: If you will I me fill out a that can guarantee 1040 form using the Fifth Amendment and the Money Issue, and never have any trouble from the government, I am ready to join the tax rebellion! How much of a hero would Washington have been if he had said to Jefferspn, Henry and Adams. If you will guarantee me that I can lead the fight for Independence without any danger, I am ready to do it.? What if Nathan Hale had said. My only regret is that I have but one life to give for my coun-tr- v provided theres no discomfort involved."? Or if the signers of the Declaration had said, ...we mutually pledge our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor provided it doesnt cost us anything.? e there were a method of winning back Liberty, If risk-fre- from the socialist governmental machine which is rapidly obliterating it. we would have found it long ago! We have those who caution. Work within the system! Never challenge a law except as a Plaintiff in Court in a civil action! As long as a law is on the books it is your sacred obligation to obey it! Your only recourse is to petition your Congressman or Legislator to change it! This is the risk-fre- e system of obtaining Liberty which they would that all men use. The only trouble with that approach is that it has been tried for the past 45 years in almost every conceivable manner and the result is more by the socialist engulfing totalitarianism which threatens to make us slaves, with every passing month.' There are those who say. Use Let us not forget the loop-holethat He who giveth a loop-hol- e ' In taketh away a loop-hole- .! short, there is no way to patch up socialism. It must be resisted and challenged, as our Founding Fathers resisted and challenged the British. First they petitioned for s! redress of grievances: they exhausted their remedies in the courts: they gave the King and Parliament notice that they were tiered of governments breaking the law and of their violation of the colonists rights as Englishmen. Then they finally resorted to their inherent and inalienable right to resist tyranny, and to protect themselves with arms if necessary. They did not seek to trample upon the rights of others. They were not anarchists. Jefferson. John Adams, Patriek Henry. 1 George Mason. John Jay. James Wilson, James Patterson. John Blair, Oliver Ellsworth and a host ot others were the leading lawyers and judges of their day. How could these legal minds support the idea of standing up to their ow n go eminent? Are not all and sundry taught that so long as a law is upon the books, one must obey and uphold that law", and that the only redemption from it is to persuade the legislators or congressmen to change it? They knew that a higher law" had to be supported. They, the founders of this republic, were believers in and advocates of the natural rights" doctrine - that man had inherent and inalienable rights just by virtue of being born that they did not come from government - that governments only excuse for existing was to protect those right- s- that the right to rebel when threatened by oppression was probably the greatest and most important right of all that without it slavery was a certain eventuality. So today we are celebrating the 200th anniversary of a The 200th anniversary of the colonists resentment of their being plundered by those who claimed the right to rule them. Protest against the money they were forced to use that of the privately owned Bank of England, was one of the thorns in the Americans side. Patriots today ask themselves. The disunited Nations is by no means one isolated complex of buildings located on Rockefeller donated land in New York City. No indeed. There are BIG BRANCHES on several continents. The controlled media doesn't mention them. One of my senators did not know about all of them. Am getting data from the U.N. itself, as to current status of building construction. the financial problem, ets. But for now. let me tell you up-to-da- te that this ONE WORLD ORGANIZATION, dominated by Communists and their Asian-Africa- n stooges, are headtheir apparently getting quarters buildings ready, in hopes they will make and administer the rules by which a craven ONE WORLD slave population will be governed . One huge, expensive building complex is under construction in (of all places) Santiago. CHILE! We all know that the communists ALMOST took over Chile. Had they succeeded, they would have had a planned communist ONE WORLD headquarters building all ready to be used. But the people rebelled. committed Allende suicide, the communists were toppled and the world's liberal and communist media screamed. Ted Kennedy bleated for the admission into the United States of defeated, fleeing Chilean communists. Already we have too many communists roaming at large in this country, without importing the most militant of them on advice of Chappaquidick Teddy boy. Barry Goldwater in a press release said he believed we had seven (7) communists in the U.S. Senate.
