Its all part of a newly-revise- d program geared to instruct school children in the proper use of the telephone. How to answer and dial the phone, how to use the directory and when and how to make emergency calls are amont the many topics taught and sung to in a splendid combination of fun and learning. Included with the color film are cassette tapes, filmstrips, charts and learning games. I here's a specialized kit for each of five age groups from kindergarten to sixth grade. Teletrainers are the mainstay of the learning experience. These are remote control telephone units used by classroom instructors which provide dial tone, ringing sounds and a busy signal. They are also equipped with loud speakers so that the class can observe actual situations. The materials were prepared by AT&T w ith the assistance of two UC1.A education professors and are provided free of charge through Mountain Bell. liducating our future customers w ill benefit everyone as network facilities are used to their best advantage. The program is not designed, however, to merely teach the art of courteous communication. but also to assist in developing the complementary skills of directory use and elementary problem solving, according to Earl M. Wallace, local exchange manager. and libel :? license? l The Court issued that unconscionable ruling against three Virginia men who had refused to join a union which is their right under the law. The three sued the Old Dominion Branch of the Fetter Carrier's Union for calling them scabs and defining scabs as follows: "After God had finished the rattlesnake, the toad and the vampire, He had some awful substance left with w hich He made a scab. A scab is a animal with a cork-scresoul, a waterbrain, a combination of backbone of jelly and glue. Where others have hearts, he carries a tumor of totten principles. The Virginia state court jury which heard the case awarded each of the men $10,000 compensatory damages and S4S.000 punitive The Virginia State damages. Supreme Court upheld the verdict. The union appealed to the IJ.S. Court which Supreme overturned the verdict with the incredible statement quoted above. The question now is whether only unions have the right to libel and slander and abuse and insult, or does the law apply equally to all Americans? If unions can libel and slander and abuse and spread reputationwrecking lies, then so can anyone else. This ruling would seem to indicate that all laws protecting people from libel and slander and invasion of privacy are null and void. If one predicted that the Supreme Court would have made such a ruling, he assuredly would be regarded as an intemperate tool. But this is no prediction. This is fact. The Court has made such a i two-legg- ed w rf 0 r ruling. Of all the rulings handed down by these robed men appointed to guard our rights and see that we uphold our responsibilities, !
