It is probable that a little more depth will put the shaft into a big body or ore. The ore has not yet been assayed. The group of eight claims owned by Will and J. R. Davis, known as the Wild Cat group, and located in the foothills near Broad canyon, is eomirfg into prominence on account of the excellent assays obtained therefrom. Messrs. Park City Record: The question of who gets the William Bogan group of mining claims, located just above the Silver King, has been settled, and, as the Record has more than once intimated, the property goes to the Silver King, the deal, which has been hanging fire for so many months, having been closed up since the claims Were successfully advertised for patent. Both the King company and Mr. Bogan have been very reticent concerning the deal and have repeatedly refused to give out any information whatever, and even now the exact figures are not made public, although it is understood to be very close to $30,000. The property, however, would be cheap at $50,000, and the Silver King company is to be congratulated on having made a good buy, as the ground will certainly add much to the life and value of the Silver King mine. The rock brought back from Gunnison last week by C. F. Goist, as samples from the discovery made there recently, in which several Parkites are interested, failed to yield any results whatever, and the ground has been abandoned. The boys do not hesitate to say that the ground wras salted by an old prospector, who took that means of raising a few dollars with which to get out of the country. The quartz with which the salting was done showed returns of over $600 to the ton in gold, but a close inspection of the ledge failed to show even a trace of rock that looked at all like the rich specimens supposed to have been blown out by a blast, and as the said prospector sold his interest to the Kearns brothers for $25, it is a clear case of i salt. The Anchor Mining company is having a diamond drill manufactured in Chicago, which will be used in prospecting for ore bodies in the lower levels of that property. By means of it the Anchor expects to locate ore bodies, the existence of whichlarge is now only a matter of theory, but which the drill is expected to prove up and substantiate. From a reliable source it is learned that the Woodside shaft is to be sunk 1000 feet, and deeper if necessary, to a the fact that large and rich prove up body of ore exists in that ground, separate and distinct from the rich chute cut in the old workings.
