During the past week Utah has been in the grip of a seasonable storm. In the high altitudes snow has fallen to a considerable depth, considering the lateness of the season. Snow has been falling at Eureka and as far south as In the Salt Lake valley the rainfall has been from one-ha- lf and has been beneinch to ficial to growing crops. For the past three nights the thermometer has reg Cedar City. one-inc- h, istered close to the freezing point, but the fruit crop in Davis and moat parts of Weber counties is still safe. Reports from the officials of the Davia and Weber Counties Canal company indicate that the East Canyon reservoir will fill before it becomes necessary to turn out water. Infor matlon received from officials of the Weber River Water Users association states that the gatea at the Echo dam will be in place so that at least 10,000 acre-feof water will be available from that source during the irrigation K?" . Weather indications are that settled weather may be expected by the end of the week, and that a spell of growing weather may be anticipated. While we are enjoying favorable weather conditions here in Utah and the region, the east is sweltering in heat and the aouth and middle Treat is being torn by cyclones. Taken all in all, it is indeed pleasant to dwell in Utah. Later Since the above waa written, about I oclock this Thursday morning, we snow storm in isve had a three-ho)avis county. The storm came direct rom Eureka via Salt Lake City, ant t was some storm. Talk about the old woman picking her geese. There are not enough geese in the world to make a feather for every snow flake that fell in those three hours. I; snowed and snowed, and as time went on it snowed harder and harder. The snow trimmed the fresh green leaves on the trees with snow-whilaces, embroideries, and covered the green awns with sheets of the Beautiful At it is still spitting snow. What the night will bring forth we can hardly guess it all depends. We still maintain it la a million-dollstorm, and wo are sure this is a better climate for a corking good snow storm on May 8 than Hollywood can stage for a billion dollars.
