Show Davis Tuesday, June 24, County Clipper University of Utah Our dear mother, grandmother and friend, Jean Starkweather Bernard, passed away on June 22, 1996, at her home in Community Church. Jean is survived by her husband; son, Phillip M. Bernard (Jamne), Salt Lake City; Carol Jean Stanford Centerville, Utah; grandchildren, Michelle Holton (Kevin); Bonni Meissner (John); Kyle Brown (Alison); Heather Bailey (Jordan), Cotton, Trenton and Jordan Brown, Tiana and Kylie Bernard; and Colton Williams, 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Barbara Bom June 14, in 1922, Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of William Bryant and Gertrude Carman Weeks Starkweather. She married Lynn Corp; later divorced. She married Phillip B. Bernard on September 20, 1952, in Long Island, New York. Because of her husbands occupation, she traveled extensively, living in many parts of the country and making friends wherever she went. Jean attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City but gave up an acting career to raise her family. She was a talented and efficient secretary in her younger years and worked for Dr. Keith Benner and Dr. Gerald Robinson after her family was raised. She was also a volunteer at J.A. Taylor Elementary School. Jean was a member of Bountiful 1 The language Japanese Scholarship recipients were chosen based on academic achievements, GPA, letters of recommendation and community service.
