Payne has been charged with perjury for providing allegedly false testimony in his two divorce cases. To reduce his alimony exposure, the North Salt official hid income and assets from the district judges handling the divorces in 1994 and according to charges filed Wednesday in 2nd District Court. After a 1994 divorce trial involving Paynes first wife, Susan, Judge Jon Memmott signed a findings of fact that said Paynes testimony was consistent with someone who has not been honest for a number of years. (Payne) could not remember statements made, dealings made and contracts. Payne, 48, is to appear before Memmott on July 9 for arraignment on two second-degre- e felony charges that are punishable by up to 15 years in prison. North Salt Lake city officials, who had not seen the perjury charges Thursday, have no immediate plans to bench. For Hogi Yogi, Teriyaki Bowl owners Bryce and Cindy Clayton Jorgensen you've got to have l(X) gallons of yogurt a day, 40 pounds of every fruit a day, and at least 100 miles of noodles a day," said Bryce with a laugh. That combination has worked for the energetic couple as they celebrate their first anniversary of Teriyaki Bowl and second anniversary of Hogi Yogi. Of course Bryce and Cindy also brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the market place when they opened Hogi Yogi in 1995. Bryce has a degree in finance and Cindy graduated in public relations at BYU. And it didnt hurt to have Cindys brother Mike filling the position as founder and corporate president of Hogi Yogi. Now her younger brother Rick has joined the corporation as vice president of marketing So the Hogi Yogi Corporation is a family affair. The Claytons attended Bountiful High School so they knew the Bountiful market, and knew a Bountiful business would be a success. Cindy describes the foods offered at both establishments with such enthusiasm they sound hard to resist. "Fast food really is the trend because people are so busy, but the best thing about our fast foods is that they are low fat. We offer a lot of fruits and vegetables and that's great health. You can get an entire meal at Hogi Yogi or Teriyaki Bowl with only four grams of fat, she said, stopping to take a breath and quickly added, Weve epitomized on what Americans are really shouting for right now, speed, health, good taste, and some kind of price break. We offer all four, Cindy said. Bryce and Cindy met when Cindy sold him a cellular phone when he worked at Memll Lynch. "I told him it was the easiest sale I ever made and he jokes that hes still paying for it," said Cindy with a laugh. This dynamic duo are now the proud parents of one son, Clayton and that has taken Cindy out of the sandwich building business, but she is still involved in the day to day operations of the company, training and encouraging the 40 plus employees at the two businesses. The employees range in age from 16 to 45, and Bryce said keeping all of them happy and helping them juggle their busy schedules is a daily balancing act. Taking care of their employees is an important part of Hogi Yogis focus. Cindy said they use a variety of methods to reward success such as using secret shoppers who then report outstanding employees who receive bonuses. Bryce and Cindy try to take time out of their busy schedules to enjoy their favorite hobbies too. They both love water skiing and golfing and Cindy loves to spend time in the pool at Lagoon with Clayton. In addition to serving as CEO for Hogi Yogi and Teriyaki Bowl, Bryce serves as the chairman of the West Bountiful Historical Commission. The Jorgensens home is a estate in West Bountiful and the couple has always been interested in preserving the past. That interest has led Bryce to his passion for restoring vintage vehicles. He is working on a 95 1 Chevy coupe and a 1956 Ford pickup. His dream car is a 1966 Ford Cobra, but if I ever get one Im not sure Id drive it on the road," he said, adding he could not afford the speeding tickets. Bryce's business savvy allows him to jump over the literal puddles and put out the literal fires the businesses have created. "We had the power go out one night and when we opened the freezer in the morning we found all of our yogurt in a big puddle. Weve also had two grease fires at Teriyaki Bowl. It's pretty exciting, Bryce said with a laugh. WHATS UNDER THE HOOD?: Cindy, Clayton and Bryce Jorgensen love the business world, but restoring vintage automobiles like this 1956 Chevy is Bryce's passion The couple also enjoys restoring their West Bountiful estate with its eight car garage, when they are not busy running their successful restuarants, Hogi Yogi and Teriyaki Bowl In addition to operating the two restaurants, Bryce is a stock broker for LPL Financial Services, a Boston based business which has offices at the rear of Hogi Yogi. Its been a unique concept. My clients can come into my office, trade some stock and pick up a sandwich on their way out," Bryce said with a laugh. One of the best selling Smoothies is also Bryces favorite. He loves the Jungle Mist flavor. He also loves Tenyaki Bowls sweet and sour chicken. He said the businesses satisfy all taste buds, including his own Bryce said he loves being in a family business. Its a lot of fun to have a job you enjoy and still be able to see your family. With the success of the business, his dream job should continue for a long time. - t, v4 r I r2, for i , ,J ( I i L ( f L k $ i I U " . I (ood only at Bountiful location One coupon per customer.
