Humans are no exception. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) affects 2 to 5 percent of Americans, causing them to feel depressed, irritable, and listless. Brown, set for Oct. 30 p.m. This presentation will be held at UNI, 501 Chipeta Way, in the University of Utah Research Park. SAD usually begins in early adulthood, and affects four times as women many as men. Symptoms of SAD are specific to avoid misdiagnosis for other depressive disorders. They include: regularly occurring symptoms of depression during the fallwinter months of at least three different years - two of them consecutively; at least three times as many instances of depression within a h time frame as during other times of the year; no other two-mont- factors that could account for regular changes of mood (i.e., become unemployed every winter, etc.); and excessive eating, sleeping, and weight gain.
