Scouts book sale to benefit Meadowbrook Tom Wood, an eighth grader at Bountiful Junior High has undertaken a very worthwhile cause to earn his Eagle Scout award. Tom is holding a huge indoor yard sale and bake sale at Meadowbrook Elementary on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All of the money raised will purchase new library books for the school to replace outdated books, section especially in the of the library. Meadowbrook is curnon-ficti- rently remodeling to move the small, inadequate library to a different part of the school. The new library will have twice the shelf space for books, and Tom is graciously giving his time and talents to help the PTA purchase books for those shelves! Tom has organized dozens of volunteers who are donating items to sell at the yard sale and others who are donating baked goods. He has also done lots of advertising with flyers, signs, and ads placed in the Clipper. If donations are too large, or if it is more convenient, Tom and his scout troop will pick up the donations and take them to the school, making it very easy for anyone who would like to donate items to sell. This eagle scout project is one of many projects that will help raise funds to purchase the needed books at Meadowbrook: The PTA is also trying to raise one million pennies (with the help of the student body, parents, faculty, community, and businesses in our city.) Meadowbrook s Spellabration night will be held in January where teams of three people sponsored from a business will enter a spelling bee for a night of great fun. The PTA is also recycling newspapers with a bin located at the school. They encourage all families in the school area to drop old newspapers in the bin, which will not only raise money for the library, but will help our environment. (For every ton of paper recycled, 17 trees are saved!) The Allied Christmas Tree lot located in the old JCPenney parking lot has come up with a wonderful plan to donate $5 to the schools library fund for each tree sold in the name of Meadowbrook Elementary this holiday season. Meadowbrook wishes to thank Tom for all of his hard work to raise funds for the library. They also wish him much success on his project. Please join in support on Saturday, November 1 8 from 2 at Meadowbrook Elementary located at 325 West 700 North. 9-- '95-- 6 Fleer Ultra Basketball!
