The study's panel of 23 experts from various medical fields, reviewed more than 3,900 studies on treatment for acute back pain. The panel then developed guidelines that were reviewed by 1 00 other back care experts and tested in various HMO's, group medical practices, and clinics. The panel found no sound scientific basis for such treatments as extended bed rest or injections of steroids (among' others). The panel did, however, find that spinal manipulation (as performed by chiropractors) can help relieve pain, especially within the first 4 weeks. At Davis County Chiropractic Clinic, we are educated and trained in the detection and care of problems affecting the spinal column. Man y cases of sciatica lend themselves to effective correction through a program of chiropractic care.
