Todd Johnson, property manager for the Cottontree Inn, said the decision to convert the 1992 Plymouth Voyager to natural gas was "done mainly out of our concern for the env ironment. We've tried to gel involved in supporting community cf foils such as fighting air pollution, and the savings of the conversion made sense. Johnson contacted Wayne King, a sales representative for Mountain fuel Supply who works with LES HARRELL GARY FOX Fox and Harrell join Coldwell Banker office has Prior to joining tiie company, Les was in the military where he studied aircraft cngincci ing. Fox previously woikcd for the Department of Defense and the USAF as a civilian employee. Coldwell Banker Premier, Inc. announced that two sales associates have joined their South commercial accounts addition, guests are sometimes shuttled to and from other offered us a $2300 credit, which means were paying about a quarter a visit now." The fuel itself, which is available to the public in a number of locations in Salt Lake City, costs 58.2 cents per gallon, about half the cost of premium unleaded gasoline. It burns much cleaner and thus allows vehicles to log 25,000 miles or more between oil changes. "The clean air issue, more than locations, Johnson said. In all, the van logs about 4,000 mile a month. The first benefit Johnson realized was a tax advantage which the hotel received from both the federal and stale governments, a combined break totaling $700. "We also pay a fee to the airport each time we go there," he said. "We pay 50 cents a visit, but because the airport authority also wants to fight pollution, they've anything else, facilitated our decision. We hope we're setting a trend which other hotels and businesses commercial with vehicles will follow by converting to natural gas," Johnson said. One additional benefit which gas companies have seen is longer engine life. A natural gas engine could log more than 250,000 miles in its lifetime. "So far, we've noticed no loss of power and have had real good performance," Johnson added. "Our gas mileage has been about the same as well. Conversion? makes sense for businesses and vehicles, I believe." ; S : I : city-own- SOFT SPOTS on King REALLY COMFORTABLE conversions of engines. explained that such a conversion could pay for itself in a relatively short time due to lower fuel costs and government incentives.
