Show C2 Tuesday, August 24, 1993 DAVIS COUNTY CLIPPER Davis Garden Club's summer display ommumi Garden tour offered Aug. 28-2- 9 The South BOUNTIFUL Davis Garden Club will be giving area residents the chance to see how other's gardens have grown during the summer Garden Tour of exceptional gardens in Davis Gardens Festival Aug. 28 Peace sounds and smells of Park will come alive with the County. These gardens epitomize variety and beauty. Some are emblazoned with unique flowers and shrubs, others are planned around the distinctive terrain or the area. The tour gardens have all been created by gardeners who love to work with Jordan sights, 25 countries for the annual International Peace Gardens Festival. Sponsored by the Salt Lake Council of Women, the festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited; admission is free. The International Peace Gardens represent 25 countries from Asia, Africa, Europe and North and South America. Varied plants and flowers, many of which are native to the country represented, enhance gateways, statues and landmarks typical of each country. The festival activities include traditional music and dance performed by representatives from participating countries. Ethnic food and boutique items will be for sale. The Salt Lake Council of Women initiated the gardens in 1939. The gardens are maintained by the Salt Lake City Parks and Recreation Department. Jordan Park is located at 1000 South and 900 West in Salt Lake the City. A series of two to four lessons can be scheduled if one really wants to improve their paddling skills. Two day overnight trips are offered in the beautiful lakes of the Uinta Mountains. Fishing, hiking, paddling, cooking, and enjoying the incredible alpine environment are a few of the options available to participants. Trips include all equipment, qualified instructors, urban ecology lessons, food, medical support if needed, and a fantastic time. Private trips are arranged for groups of 10 or more.
