At the July 28 meeting the council failed to approve the site plan by a vote of 1 because three votes are needed for passage as required by law. Councilwoman Renee Coon who had cast the sole "No" vote at the previous meeting was absent from the Aug. 4 meeting and left no word as to whether her According to City Manager Tom Hardy, the two issues were moving the location to the east and safety concerns. City Planner Blaine Gehring (at the July 28 meeting) said the site plan should be approved at 600 East 500 North in Bountiful for the new water tank as West Bountiful had submitted an extensive site plan as requested by the city and met all other stipulations. Commission approved a conditional use permit on June 15 for West Bountifuls water tank following a heated public hearing. The water tank is designed to be completely covered and surrounded by landscaping but will protrude 13 feet above ground level. Police allege that the two juveniles broke into a home on Brown Drive last week and stole over $1,200 worth of camera equipment, jewelry and a portable stereo. A witness saw the boys leaving the house and called police. Officer Wayne Hansen located the suspects and made the arrest, Jacobson said. Police have referred the youths to juvenile court.
