Carbon County Nursing Home 0 Todd Price, mail Sun Advocate, 10, 1980 Meneses, All the patients and employees of the Carbon County Nursing Home welcomed the administrator, John Bugel, home this week. He had been in Salt Lake City for open heart surgery. This is a busy time of the year for all of the residents. The holidays are upon us and everyone is busy with Christmas projects. The ladies are making quilts, table decorations, baby blankets and knick knacks. The men are making leather crafts and weaving baskets. The doors, halls and dining room are all being decorated. The arts and crafts classes are held each afternoon and any of the patients interested in this are encouraged to participate and all materials used are supplied by the Nursing Home. Some of the residents enjoy the bingo games so much they are being played 2 or 3 times a week - a small prize goes to each winner. The Senior Citizens organization helps and contributes to the success of the bingo games. A cake is presented to anyone who has a birthday during the month and then each month we have one birthday party when everyone enjoys the music and fun. Each Sunday morning Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Hansen bring flowers and coordinate the church activities with each LDS ward sharing the services. All of the schools, churches and organizations in our area contribute to our programs with music, art and decorations. Some of the young people join in the arts and crafts work and a hilarious sound issues from that area. The Girl Scouts decorated our Christmas tree this year. The past several months our residents have been visiting with the residents at the Price Care Center. This happens once a month at a party. The activity which we all look forward to each month is the International Day Party. Each month a different country is represented. We have a beautiful buffet lunch made of the dishes from that country. The dining room is decorated for this occasion. The Kitchen Band provides the music for the dancing and everyone dances, patients, visitors and staff. All of the recreation and crafts are under the direction of Iris Potts who coordinates all activities. Families and friends are always welcome and are encouraged to visit and have lunch on their relative or friends birthday and for International Day.
