The veteran officers hope for quiet nights when they can tell a long joke and finish it. When things are quiet they know they have been doing their job and that the city is running smoothly, Bryner said. The optometrist now works out of the Green River Fire House. The dentist will begin to work in a few weeks out of a trailer obtained from the Green River Missile Complex. For awhile, the clinic operated out of the living room of nurse practitioner Susanne Allen. The clinic owns equipment, but it can not be used in the motel rooms. The doctor is in only one day a week in Green River. Dr. Jerry Peters, an emergency room physician at St. Marys Hospital in Grand Junction, flies to Green River every Tuesday. There has not been a full - time physician in the town for about six years. Despite the shortcomings of operating a medical clinic out of a motel room, there is at least one advantage. The patients love the TV in the waiting room, nurse Allen said. It takes away the emergency room feeling of a clinic waiting room.
