MASH was Theme On June 24 at 6 a.m. the youth and leaders of the Salina IDS Stake arose. Youth Conference was about to begin. With the theme, MASH (Mormons Always Stand High) steady on their minds, the young people and adult advisors were ready for action. for Youth Conference Youth full of vim and vigor were picked up in each town of Redmond, Salina and Aurora by the official MASH bus and delivered to the Salina Stake farm where bleary eyed stake leaders were preparing a 7 a.m. breakfast of hot cakes, milk and orange juice. With stomachs filled, everyone was divided into three groups according to the color of writing on their shirts. Then off to work they went painting sheds, digging thistles, hauling off rocks and generally cleaning up. Aurora Second Ward and Richard Wasden were in charge of the work project. By 10 a.m. everyone needed a break and cold popsides seemed very refreshing. By 11:30 a.m. much had been accomplished: much work, much fun and some goofing off. Again the MASH bus picked up the troops and delivered them to Aurora Park where Salina Third Ward had prepared a delirious lunch. Once more bellies were full and the troops rested, so the game of life began. This was directed by Colonel Ray Gless and the Aurora First Ward. Lots of fun and crazy games were enjoyed. The grand finale of the afternoon was the great water fight Each ward was to set up their own fort and water supply. Water balloons, water tanks, jugs, cans and anything else that held water was used including the canal. No one was safe and leaders soon found that this was one place where the troops had no respect for their elders. This was proven when they dumped General Dennis Sperry in the cfnal. At 4 p.m., soppy, soggy troops once again boarded the MASH bus to go home, and dry out for the evening activities. At 8 p.m., the troops returned to Aurora Park where a luau was ready to begin. Bill and Rose Weaver and the Salina First Ward had a delightful Hawaiian meal fixed with a whole pit roasted pig! An auction was next on the list and bidding was done with the tickets earned in the game of life. Some nice things were donated by many local merchants. The last activity was a dance and Salina s Fourth Ward had arranged for a great sound system and music. At 10:30 the troops loaded on the bus and returned to private bunks to rest and recuperate for the next day. On Saturday at 7 a.m., troops were gathered again. The morning was beautiful and the feeling was very spiritual while we listened to our momingside speaker Dave Ca Members of the Chunk of Jesus Saints believe Christ of Latter-da- y that when this mortal life is over we will die a physical death. After this death, our spirits will go to what is called the spirit world. There we will have our own identity and we will have further opportunity to advance. In essence, we will prepare ourselves for the resurrection. We will all be resurrected because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ (I Cor. 1521-2John 528-29- ). Resurrection means that the body and the spirit will be reunited again forever. Men and women will live forever with perfect .bodies. Gaining whatever eternal reward we obtain will depend upon how we lived in this mortal life. 3; W e all will be judged on what we do in this life (Rev. 20:12). Jesus Christ will be our judge (John 522). Physical Fitness by Elders Bra mmer and Dudley; and Art b; mpbell. Using some of the MASH characters, he put many points across.
