He was bom June 10, 1921 in Altona, Utah, to William Lyn and Esther Miller Mecham. He married Vivian Deaton Dec. 28, 1942 in Richfield. He was a member of the IDS Church, a member of operating engineers union number 3 and a member of the American Legion. Survivors wife; 2 sons, 4 daughters. Tonight, Thursday, Feb. 17, is the big night for the young marrieds to come out and enjoy roller skating, eating and socializing. There will . be games with prizes and concessions. It starts at 7 p.m. at Picketts Roller Skating Rink and a charge of $3 per couple and $1.50 singles. The DUP Ebelskiver social is underway today, Feb. 17, for everyone of all ages and all over the Salina, Aurora and South Sanpete area. All kinds of goodies and a bake sale will be held from 10 a.m until late afternoon. Mrs. Lany (Bessie) Peterson drove to Page, Arizona and spent a week looking after her grandson, Levi, while his parents, Brack and Candy, went on a skiing trip to Park City. Frederick and Laurie Christiansen of and daughter, . Courtney, have moved into the home of the late Vernal Nelson. They had been living in Salina. We welcome them here. Bonnie Miller, daughter of Rulon and Betty Miller, has received a call to go on a mission to Tokyo, Japan. We congratulate her. Eldon Christensen and a friend, Bert Gibbs of MaGrath, Alberta, Canada stayed overnight Friday with Burton Christensen. They came to Salt Lake and visited his son, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Christensen and on down here where they visited Burton, Owen Christensen, Karol and Loma Draper, Mar and Leona Mickelsen, Orvil and Ethel Jensen and Lester Jensen. They also called LaMar Bosshardt and he took them on a tour of the salt mine. Saturday they went on to Las Vegas, Nev. and then to San Diego, Calif, where they would meet his brother, Bladen and Vera Christensen who are vacationing there. Eldon is 85 years and is doing real well and would be doing part of the driving on the trip. Neither Karen Colby, the driver of this car, nor her passenger, Allison Steiger, was injured when their Neuts Thad and Cleola Torgensen, Ce- dar City, attended the meeting to hear Carl Don. Lee Ann Bosshardt and her friend, Christine Birch, Snow College students were visiting her parents, Ronald and Ellen Bosshardt for the weekend. Kenneth and Emma Hales, Mar-wooand Maurine Hales, and willis and Anna Fae Hales went to Mesa, Arizona, to visit a few days with their brother Hal Hales. They were there from Thursday to Sunday night. They report that Hal is doing well and keeping busy. He is an interpreter for the Spanish speaking people. He also had missionaries stay in his home on occasions. He entertains the drivers of buses who bring people there to go through the Mesa Temple. He is secretary in his ward. Marwood stayed down there and his sons, John and Tom, went down and met him Monday and they attended an auction for equipment. Tammy Hales and Angela Ivie of Salina planned and carried out a surprise birthday party for her brother, Troy Hales, for his 14th birthday Friday evening in the Legion Hall. His friends danced and had treats. The girls had made him a decorated birthday cake. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Ashman visited the Gerry Ashmans in West Valley City Saturday to celebrate Gerrys birthday. They also saw their granddaughter, Laurie Christensen, off for a weeks visit in Washington, D.C. Laurie was cho- sen from her Honors American Government class at Hillcrest High School to observe the nations government in action. She was accompanied by her teacher. Laurie and other of the nations juniors will attend sessions at the Senate and the Congress. Laurie also has appointments to meet personally with a number of Senators and Congressmen. Mrs. Gelbert Waters (Marva) had a special day for her birthday Sunday. Her daughters, Noreen Golemba and Betty Jensen, Salt Lake City, and LaRae Ogden, Richfield, came and brought a turkey and the trimmings for a lovely dinner for her and Gilbert. On Tuesday his daughters came and also had dinner for them; Dalla Mickelsen, Allen and Neva Crane, Salina, and Mark and Naomi Pickett, Gunnison. Bob and Tamra Hardman and family, Riverton, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Mickelsen and the families were all together. Bob went to Loa Saturday to bid for a job remodeling a church there. Mrs. James (JoAnn) Wilson and Ted Behunin and Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Ball and son, Chris, were in Kamas over the weekend to spend it with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Larsen for their wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Mickelsen and daughter, Christy, were in Salt Lake Thursday to attend the wedding of a neice. Byron and Vera Jensen went to Salt Lake Wednesday to keep a medical appointment for Byron for leg problems. Betty Nelson, Springville, came down Sunday of last week and brought dinner to her father, FYed Nelson and wife, JoLane and spent the day. Brady Lund had a party for his 4th birthday Saturday afternoon. His little cousins and friends played games and had treats. His mother, Mrs. Craig (Debbie) Lund assisted him. Jay and Doris Christensen went with the Farm Bureau people of Utah by bus to California. They attended conventions at the Asili-mConvention Center in Monterey. They reported that they had received much information and made many friends. Sunday, Jay and Doris hosted dinner for Allen and Louise Jensen and family for Louises birthday. Eari and Clara Spencer had his brother, Ray and Myrtle Spencer, Caldwell, Idaho, visit them a few days this week. Elder Carl Don Hales reported his mission to England Sunday morning. He and his brother, Collin, sang a duet Oh That I Were An Angel accompanied by their sister, Karen Nielson. Released were Betty Anderson and Keith Stubbs as primary workers and Sandra Jensen as a Sunday School teacher. Sustained were: Steven and Lanna Roberts and Sharon McFarland as primary workers and Diana Jensen, Sunday School. Kenneth and Emma Hales are temple attendance chairmen. Kyle Bosshardt was advanced to the office of a teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood. He is the son of Ronald and Ellen Bosshardt. Membership records have been received for Becky Marie Castle-maChad Knaras, FYed and Eunice Stuckman and family who have recently moved here. We welcome these people into our town and ward. ar n, . Brent Shaw is a senior wrestling at 155 this year. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. The son of Maxine Monroe Wayland Shaw, Aurora. Brent had a disappointing season this year. He came off of knee surgery and then was injured at the Wayne County Tournament and never fully recovered. and Don White, both Salina, did not participate in this past week's state tournament, but we want to recognize him for his efforts in this, his first year of wrestling. He did an outstanding job for the Wolves and we look forward to a great year from J. R. next season. We appreciate Brent's ef- forts and the part he played on the team this year. Those who went were Royce Mason, Ferald Mason, Dever Sudweeks, Larry Cosby, Wendell Mason, and Ellis Quam-berg. The district scouts held their banquet last Thursday night. Auroras scout troops did very well and we should be very proud of those leaders who make our scout troops some of the best in the district. The Aurora 2nd Ward held their cub scout blue and gold banquet last Tuesday night. Tliere were lots of great foods with a cake auction afterwards to help out the cub scout budget. Troy Shaw got hurt last week while he was playing basketball at school. He hit his head and got a concussion and spent the night in the hospital. We hope hell soon be feeling better. Russell Bastian and Gordon Kirk spent the weekend at Lake Powell. Jean Bastian and family spent the weekend in Goshen visiting Jeans sister Ann Kirk and in Nephi visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ray Boswell. DeAnna Taylors parents, Mr. 'and Mrs. Jim Hooks, spent the weekend visiting Bob and DeAnna and family. The Aurora 2nd Ward Elders Quorum held a Sweethearts Ball Saturday night for all the elders and their: sweethearts. They had a great meal after which the Durfee band played and everyone danced with their sweethearts. The decorations were beautiful and everyone had a great time. Verl and Shannon Houghton spent school the weekend at a Clean-n-Va- c in St. George. Beverly Farleys girl scout troop took a tour of McDonalds last weekend and learned all the secrets of a real Big Mac. They all had a great time. visiCarol Jacobsens ted the Sevier County jail last week and took a grand tour. Several girls from Aurora traveled to Huntington for a gymnastics meet last Saturday. They were Jamie and Nicole Shaw, Lisa Brown, Alisa Bastian, Robyn Huntsman, Karieen Gull, Karri Rhine-har- t, Mary Bagley, Rebecca Johnson and Mindy Chivers. The all did a great job and had lots of fun. They are all students of Dian Chivers. Terry and Patti Shaw are the parents of a new baby girl bom last Thursday. She weighed 10 lbs. 8V2 oz. and will be named Ashley. Donnell and Mandy Farley and Rachel and Becky Mason attended a Hawaiian Luau girl scout camp last weekend in Ogden. The Aurora 2nd Ward girls Mutual got a new presidency Sunday. They are Karen Sorenson, president; Elaine Brown, 1st Councilor; Susan Bagley, 2nd Councilor; Jan-ee- n Sorensen, secretary.
