Show ; Math Teachers Honored Three Sevier School District math teachers were honored recently for k. their teaching excellence. Elementary, Mr. Peterson is at Richfield Junior High, and Mr. Newby is at South Seveir High School. Each attendance area and DeWayne Jolley, Russ Peterson and Hartley Newby were awarded plaques by their respective principals during Teacher Appreciation Week. The special week was a statewide event declared by Gov. Matheson and encouraged by the association of Utah Teachers of Math. Mr. Jolley teaches at Salina the three main divisions of the curriculum are represented in these winners. Our district is very fortunate to have such a high quality of math teachers in our schools, said Supt. Carl Tuft, and we hope they all understand how much we appreciate what they do for our students. Dahl and Elaine Brown and z&i 7 Ronald Anderson and Julie Beck Beck and Anderson Plan Feb. Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Donald A. Beck of Centerfield are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Julie, to Ronald Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Miles A. Anderosn of Redmond. Miss Beck gradauted from Gunnison Valley High School and LDS Seminary in 1980. She served as school paper editor as well as holding other various offices. She then attended, and graduated from Snow College in 1982 where she earned an Associate of Science degree. Julie also graduated from the Snow College Institute. Since then, Julie has been attending USU where she has been working towards an art degree. Ron graduated in 1978 from North Sevier High School and LDS Seminary where he was active in football, basketball and track. He attended Sevier Valley Tech before serving a two year LDS mission in the Brazil Rio De Janiero Mission. Ron is currently employed at Robert T. Dewey A.I.A. and Architects in Bountiful. A reception will be held the evening of February 26, 1983, following their marriage in the Jordan River LDS Temple. The couple plan to make their home in Bountiful. Ernest and Elaine Bastian went to Salt Lake City last week. They visited Lowell and VerLynn Killpack and family and stopped in at the Provo hospital to visit Gena Shaw and Glen Tayloir. They are both improving. Tonya Taylor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Taylor, was baptized and confirmed last weekend. Her Jor. dinner to, help celebratg. Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Cornell-"- Hatch, Richfield, grandparents Otto Taylor and Mrs. Ell Von Dastrup, and great grandmother Mrs. Elvira Dastrup. Tonya had a roller skating party Friday afternoon with 12 friends. They all had a great time. Camron and' Candace Mason, children of Royce and JoLynn Mason were baptized and confirmed ; last weekend by their father. Here to help celebrate were grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Odel Whitlock, Austin. Math Teacher Extraordinaire Dee Wayne Jolley, a sixth grade teacher at Salina Elementary School, was a winner in a math education contest sponsored by the governor and the Utah Math Association. Mr. Jolley won in the district for the elementary schools. Library Has Tax Tapes Salina City has cassette tapes with recorded instructions on how to fill out both the short Form 1040A, 1040EZ and the longer Form 1040, along with Schedules A and B. These tapes, prepared by the Internal Revenue Service, can be checked out from Salina City library just like a book and played at home on any standard cassette tape player. There is even jrQvision for Convenient Stopping the tape points to finish working on a section of the form. Persons using these cassette tapes should have their tax forms and instructions available so that they can work right along with the tape.
