Neither my mom nor my dad ever bit their nails, but all of us kids do right down to the quick! Salina Chamber: Coming of Age I have tried to grow them out using nail to mittens; even polish tried some of that nasty tasting paint-o- n stuff, but it has all been to no avail. I have little stubs were nails are supposed to go. Not only are short, bitten, nails very ragged The Salina Chamber of Commerce is coming of age. The sooner the merchants in North Sevier realize this, the quicker this areas business community will flourish as it ought to. The chamber has been accused of doing nothing, or of going too slowly on the projects they undertake. If last weeks chamber meeting is any indication, that generalization can be discarded. Another not entirely unfounded accusation came from several merchants: In the six years weve been here, not one person has asked us to join the Chamber of Commerce. If that was true in the past, the new Salina Chamber leadership has decided that too will change. President Bob White and Wayne Sittre have asked all active chamber members to go out and personally invite every business in the community to join the chamber and become actively involved in its business and community promoting activities. The new leadership has also gotten a long put-of- f project back onto the tracks and rolling again. Be expecting a professionally done tourist brochure in a very short time. The Chamber voted last week to assess and spend the needed capital to get the first 25,000 copies of the brochure published. The Salina Sun praises these efforts of a positive thinking and acting chamber. We might also suggest that the chamber look into getting Salinas share of the county transient tax to help pay for this venture. Vice-preside- unattractive, theyre very inconvenient. Scratching an itch isnt the only thing nails are used for. Have you ever can tried to pop a pop-towithout nails? Its next to impossible to get hold of the little ring. How about when you wash dishes, or clean off the cabinet and you find a little bit of something stuck to the surface? Just scrape it with your nail. Right? When it happens to me I have to about rub my fingers raw to get the stuff off. Nails are great for peeling labels off cans or price tags off gifts. nt Sheriffs deputy picked up d In other police matters, Kurt Taylor, Aurora, had $18 and personal papers stolen from his locker at the high ' school. , A theft of $20 was reported from the According to Salina Police Chief Gordon Kiesel, Kent Shaw, 3, was Mel Jensen home. with his father, Gary Shaw, and grandfather, Devon Shaw, in the early evening at the games.
