Plans for a bowery to be built on the dty park near the town hall were made by the town council. The lumber was delivered this week and work will get underway soon. Ned and Ruth Yeaman came home this week from Yuma, AZ., where they lived for five months. They reported having a good winter, except that Ned had a severe bout with the flu. They lived in an apartment. Her brother and sister-in-laIvan K. and - 529-339- 0 they stayed overnight with Ruths aunt, Mrs. Ruth K. Tippetts, in Las Vegas, NV. s. Mary Tippetts, lived close by. Enroute home, Lee Lund and Jenett Hales are heading the cancer drive, which got underway this week. Assisting them are: Irene t, Christensen, June Bessie Peterson, Carla Wilkins, JoLane Nelson, Diana Peterson, Debbie Stubbs, Lori Dumas, Phyllis Jensen, Maijorie Mickelsen, Iris Hales, Brenda Chidester, Susan Bosshardt, Eva Mae Pickett, Marva Watters, Faye Hampton, and JoeAnn Heath. Ella Boss-hard- Miss Toni M. Angelina of San Jose, CA. flew to Salt Lake City for conference and came down to visit Marwood and Maurine Hales and Newell. Newell baptized her in 1979. Maurines nephew, Victor Cannon, Covina, CA., visited them Friday. With him was a fellow from Tonga, who is a convert. They came for conference. David and Bonnie Peterson and family were in Fillmore Saturday to attend a family birthday party for Davids grandfather, William Peterson, who is 95. He is in good health and lives alone near his son, Lawrence Peterson and wife. The dinner was in the Senior City twice during the week to keep a medical appointment for Keith for his hands. He has pinched nerves. Mrs. Carl (Ramona) Mrs. Elliott Lewis, (Wanda) Crane, Salina, and Mrs. Edris Mickelsen went to Ogden Saturday and Sunday to the bowling tournament. They were met there by Manon Mickelsen and Mrs. Elise Collins, who bowl on their team. The team is sponsored by the Cranes. Linda Mickelsen and Barbara Mickelsen took Herberts Firm Gets SBA Honor from the ground up, Herbert explained. Nothing is available commercially or off the shelf. One of the firms toughest jobs was a Val Herbert, a Salina native, who operates Vals Machine and Engineering, Inc. in West Jordan, has been named the Region Vm Small Business Subcontractor of the Year by the SBA. A 1959 graduate of North Sevier High School, Herbert is the son of Chad and Maurine Herbert, former Salina residents who now live in Scipio. The specialty machine shop was nominated for bowling in Ephraim on Thursday evening. The girls had a good lime bowling, some for the first time. Herberts machining and welding business has shown impressive growth since it was begun seven years ago. Originally it n was a operation with one mill and lathe and a small buzz box welder building sporting arrows. They stopped afterwards for hamburgers. Gary F. Hales, son of Mrs. Adley Peterson of Redmond, has graduated with honors from the Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Norton Air Force Base, Calif. Hales received the honor graduate award for overall excellence in every area of instruction. The sergeant, who received advanced military leadership and management training, is assigned at Hill Air Force Base. Dr. Winkel played baseball and basketball at Brigham Young University in 1962 and 1963, filled an LDS mission to Argentina and then attended Ricks College, where he was in 1966-6- 7 in basketball. He played one more year with BYU, 1967-6He is a graduate of California College of Podiatric Medicine and practiced in California for eight years before moving to Provo. He trained under Dr. Steven Sobotnick, current writer for Runners World Magazine. He is a runner and currently training for a marathon in Arizona. He and his wife, the former Gloria Bailey of Escalante, Garfield County, have four daughters and one son.
