Show LETTER TO EDITOR Dear Editor: . How could Thorp have an ad that indicates he has respect for Senior Citizens. I don't know what he means by CONTINUED and VIGOROUS support of programs designed to meet the needs of Senior Citizens. How could he meet their needs or support programs for their needs without being there. His record shows he was absent, or failed to vote, 300 plus in the sessions during the past .4 years. Does he not realize that becausr of him and his associates a great many of the senior citizens are in a state of mental anguish over the thought of that hiigh Intermountain Power Plant coming to their area? These elderly people have worked a lifetime Wad-dingha- m for the privilege of living and retiring in this farming area with clean air and bountiful crops, only to have a few people with the thought of personal gain promote an Intermountain Power Project which is not compatible with farming, and which will leave them short of water and with an IPP pollution plume hanging over them. If this plant were really needed it could be placed in a much more suitable place. It is frightening to think of the amount of pollution that will result from this plant if it were built here. It will spew out the following pollution or a total of 314.1 tons per day, broken down in the following order: 55 tons per day of S02; 7.1 tons per day of Particulates; and 251.4 tons per day of No2 which makes a total of 314.1 tons. This emission from IPP would not only continue for an hour, nor a day, but would continue for 365 days, or as long as the plant continues to operate. And as for the water situation, the Sevier River has run into Delta for 1000 years and filled the area full of water. That is why the pumping of wells has been so good. But if you stop that river of water from coming into Delta, Deseret, and Hinckley, where is the water coming from to fill the wells? It has to come from somewhere, and it takes years for underground water to build up. We know that it soes not rain enough to supply enough water to pump and once the river is not running into the valley the wells will dry up, and the farming will be finished in this valley, and the way of life will be changed. the VOTE Pete Weimer For State Representative DISTRICT 72 - Beaver, Sevier, Piute Native Utahn Law Enforcer Outdoorman, Sportsman Vote Pete Weimer ON NOVEMBER 4TH Budget Cutting Difficulties In an effort to comply with Gov. Scott Mathesons executive order to cut by 2Ms all state agency budgets, Sevier School District officials have been weighing carefully what can be cut from an already lean budget should the order become mandatory. As of Sept. 30, some district monies were for summer frozen schoolextended year programs, community education, equipment replacement, elementary music, gifted and talented program, basic skills program, all field trips, travel, and te workbooks. equip- - Shop The water one farmer puts on his land might not be the water that he is the pumping out of ground. That water could go one mile away to his neighbor, so that if he sells his surface water, he is selling his neighbors water; the water farmers have a right to, and have been using for years. Does any one farmer have the right to sell his water to IPP and adversely affect the rights of all the other farmers? The water in the river drains from Wayne, Piute, Sevier, Sanpete, and Millard counties. There is no way to get enough water out of Millard County alone to do adaquet wells. pumping from Those people selling water to IPP should think what they are doing, and think what Thorp Waddingham, Cecil Andrus, and Gov.
