Show V The Sallna Sun, October Owens Visits Sr. Citizens Sevier County CM Refinery Under Construction iVor - trnjunnison Industrial Park Area The Small Business Administration has approved financing for the construction oil of a small refinery in the Gunnison Industrial Park. The president of the company, which will be known as Dixon Oil, is Noel Dixon of Salt A cousin, Dale Dixon, will be in charge of the construction of the refinery and Lake City. Robert Owens, American Party candidate for Congress, visited Sevier County last Saturday on a campaign swing through the southern end of Utah First Congressional District. He was accompanied by his wife, Evelyn. Owens spoke to a luncheon gathering in Richfield, advocating national tax reduction and elimination of federal competition with private business. He stated the multiple-us- e concept of administering federal lands is the best course to insure the greatest good for all concerned. also will be the plant superintendent. The refinery will employ approximately 17 personnel at the plant and another 20 truck drivers for the delivery of the crude oil. The plant will operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week, with brief in December of each year for maintenance and rehab. A portion of the financing is shut-dow- n being provided by Valley Industrial Corporation of Gunnison, Utah. Their participation has made the SBA loan possible. Negotiations between Dixon Oil Company, Gunnison City, Valley Industrial Cor- Economic the poration, Development Administration, Economic and the Development District have been underway for over a year, planning and negotiating the various aspects of the project. Projected production at the plant is 84,000 gallons of fuel every 24 hours. A major portion of the fuel will be gasoline. Crude oil will initially come from Wyoming, but Dixon is hopeful that within the near future producing wells will be developed within the area. The Price Is Right The most extensive and comprehensive exhibition of Utah folk art ever gathered will open today (Thursday, Oct. 12) at the Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City. It will be open from noon until 9 p.m. daily through Oct. 21 and is free to the public. The exhibition intends to take the viewer on an audio and visual journey through Utah history and the development of its indigenous art. It will explore Native American culture and depict the change that occurred in folk art before and after white settlement in Utah and will describe how these two cultures influenced each other. After Oct. 21, the exhibition will travel to the BYU campus for a month in November, then to Southern Utah State College during January, and to Utah State University in February. Its permanent home will be in the new Historical Society Building in the Denver Rio Grande Depot.
