Show School Attendance Policy The Sevier School District attendance policy shall be mailed to parentsguardians of all secondary students prior to the opening of school each year. The attendance policy will be distributed to parentsguardians of new students upon registration. It will be sent home with elementary studen. ts. 2. Truancy (slufring) is any absence without parental or school approval. A sluff will result in the automatic reduction of one letter grade for the current term in each class sluf-felA-B- 3. , When it is necessary for a student to be absent from school, the parentguardian should call the principal's office and advise the attendance secretary of the reason for the absence. 4. Students who have 100 attendance in any class for any quarter shall have their grade raised to the next level F to D-- B to B plus; etc. ) in that class. A student is to be counted present if engaged in school activities; otherwise, 100 attendance is required with no excuses accepted. 5. After a student has missed the seven days allotted for absence in a semester, heshe and hisher parents will be notified of hisher absence. If any further absences occur, the student will receive a cut in hisher grade (A to B) andor credit. In the event this occurs, the student may petition in writing to the principal, who is the chairman of the review board, for a hearing on hisher case. The review board may consist of a representative from the the school counselor, the school principal, a teacher, and a student representative from the student council. This review should Ik- - held within one week of the time when the student has used more than the allotted absences.
