I remember well because that was our wedding day and I was a bride. The sun did NOT shine on that Feb. 14. The church organist got stranded in a deep snowdrift so we had no ceremonial wedding music and we were both late getting to the church. I a valentine dont know if it was actually on Valentine's Day, but it was the day we got our friends' valentines at school. Heather was a girl I had a large crush on. I liked her and when I read her valentine, I almost died. She wrote I love you. Nothing made me happier for months. I kept that card and showed all of my friends. We so went together for a while, but it ended soon. I found out that she gave another guy the same message. I was temporarily crushed, but I loved the experience. Her life is an example of endurance through trials that would seem overwhelming to many of us. She has slowly but continually moved toward a life of joy and peacefulness that those who know her feel. My junior year in high school we decided to do something nice for our guy friends. We decided to serenade about 30 different guys. We all piled into my van and delivered each of them a tiny Huggies diaper full of Hersheys Kisses, that said, Hugs and Kisses!! Love Cupids Cuties. Then we sang the song from Bye, Bye Birdie, entitled We Love You, Conrad! (Of course we changed the name to the guy we were serenading.) They loved it and we had a ball. It took us close to three hours to complete, but the looks on their faces made it worth every minute. Katie Bailey Kaysville I came home and went up to my room. To my surprise it was decorated with crepe paper and pink, red and white balloons. On my bed were roses and a card. The card was from my boyfriend. I opened it and it said Happy Valentines Day and then it said, Will you go to the prom with me. The reason why this is so memorable is because I just remember being so happy. Lisa Hyde For the first time, single red roses were delivered to our house - one for each of my sisters, my mom and me. My dad had them delivered to us and has every year since. It is something I really look forward to. Elizabeth Hadfield Kaysville Every year for Valentines Day, my father gives each of us in the family a gift. Last year he gave each of us an envelope. We all opened our envelopes at the same time. Our excitement grew as we read what the card had written on it. It said that our Dad would buy us a pair of sandals for a vacation during the summer. We had to all guess where . wc were going and to our surprise it was Hawaii. We were so excited! Heidi Williams - , Farmington broke up with my girlfriend on the worst possible day of the year! Things had been on the downhill slope for a while, and they hit rock bottom when she confronted me on Valentines Day. Unable to postpone the cursed event any longer, our love was ended the day love is celebrated. Al Downing I Kavwille I was having a terrible day. All in school except me. I came home and I of my friends got roses was really depressed. I ran upstairs and shut myself in my room. I heard a knock on the door. It was my dad. He had a beautiful card and rose. That was so wonderful to me that Ill remember it always. Leilani Talbot Kavsville I was in first grade and I found out that a second-grad- e girl had a crush on me. Instead of giving me the typical envelope with one or two hearts I it, she gave me a heart shaped box and a giant Hershey Kiss. I enjoyed eating the gift, but I was embarrassed and ran away from her at recess. I think that I even put sand in her hair that day. Randy Wells Farmington It had been a normal day at school and I was just coming in my house. I was tired and I was heading for my room so I could set down my things and relax. I opened my door and my friend had decorated my room with red balloons and a Teddy bear was sitting on my bed. Emily McKenzie Kaysville The most beautiful girl in the world decided to make me her date to the school dance. I was infatuated. I asked my mother to take me to the mall to buy me a new outfit. It was sweet, I bought a Gucci shirt. It matched perfectly. When we got to the dance I was a little bit worried because my date said she didnt feel well and quite frankly she didn't look so well. We were dancing to Forever Young when all of a sudden she was sick all over my brand new shirt. I was mortified. As I turned to run out I tripped in front of my Spanish teacher, Mr. Osborne. Inside the gelatin, instead of marshmallows or fruit, there were gifts wrapped in plastic bags protecting them from the red goo. Her favorite gift was a cassette tape of John singing love songs to her. My friend, Tracy Gorder of West Point, receives the basic dozen red roses every Valentine's Day from her husband, Jeff. She on the other hand, looks for the unusual, like the time she bought a black lace stocking with a satin shoe. Inside it was filled with all sorts of surprises, including candy, she said. Youd think my friends Dave and Karen Valentine would whoop it up on Valentines Day, but no, Karen said, its just another day. Its no biggee, she said. She thought they were going to go to Wendover. It wasnt until she was on the plane that she realized they were headed to Hawaii for a week. Kathy Asper of Syracuse surprised her parents in 1964. Her mother, Colene Browning, was not due to deliver Kathy for several weeks. Her father, Darwin, gave Colene a box of chocolates for Valentines. After she ate the box, she had to go to the hospital, Kathy said. Her parents always said Kathy was their own Valentine but she only received birthday gifts for Valentines Day. Now her husband, Gary, gives Kathy traditional Valentine gifts for her birthday. Judy Winegar of West Point loves the holidays. She goes with decorations and all kinds of little gifts.
