The state division primarily focuses its services to those who sustained intellectual orand physical challenges prior to age 18. A new exception was legislated this year that makes people eligible for services who sustained a traumatic brain injury after age 18. The focus of the division is to assist individuals to remain in their homes and in the community rather than to be institutionalized. One of the services is that of deinstitutionalization" where individuals are brought out of nursing homes, or from the American Fork Training Center, and are integrated into the community. These individuals need many supportive services such as help in daily living skills, learning and retaining employment skills, and improving personal and social relations. The services not only help in the training of disabled children in the home, but help care for the child in the home so that parents can get away for a few hours or days at a foUAUTYiRECONDmONEFAPPUANCES!
