Naegle of Clearfield, has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Army. He is stationed at Fort Riley, Kan. with his wife, Sharon, and daughter. Dawn. Navy Seaman Recruit Linda M. Kerr, daughter of Navy Chief Petty Officer Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Kerr Jr. of Kaysville, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla. During the cycle, recruits taught general military subjects are de- signed to prepare them for further academic and training in one of the Navy's 83 occupational fields. Studies include seamanship, close-orddrill, naval history and first aid. Navy Ensign Brett H. Campbell, son or William A. and Sonya W, er Campbell of Layton, recently completed the Officer Indoctrination School. During Education Newport, pared for the course at the Naval and Training Center, R.I., students are preduty in the naval staff field corresponding to their civilian profession. The first five weeks of studies include naval history and traditions, personnel administration, military law, close-orddrill, and other general military subjects. Officer Indoctrination School provides a basic naval indoctrination course for newly commissioned medical, dental, nurses, medical service, judge advocate general and nuclear power instructors. During the final week, studies concentrate on the application of civilian professions within the Naer vy. A 1983 graduate of Layton High School, he received a bachelors degree in 1991 from Utah State University. He joined the Navy in November 1991. Coast Guard Lt. j.g. Steven T. Pearson, a 1983 graduate of Davis High School, recently reported for duty at 17th Coast Guard District, Juneau, Alaska. A 1990 graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree, he joined the Coast Guard in May 1990. Marine CpI. James A. Fleming, son of Judy K. Fleming of Layton, recently returned with the llth Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Pendleton, Calif., from a deployment to the Western Pacific and the Persian Gulf as part of the USS Tarawa Amphibious Ready Group. Fleming participated in training which exercise Eager Macc-92-- 3 was highlighted by with the Kuwaiti armed forces which provided bilateral and basic combat skills training. He also participated in the joint Navy and Marine Corps exercise with elements th cross-trainin- g of Amphibious Squadron One. llth Marine Expeditionary Unit was comprised approximately 1,900 Marines and sailors. Air Force Sgt. Juan M. Barajas has arrived for duty at Hahn Air Base, Lautzenhascn, Germany. B- arajass wife, Vicky, is the daughter or David Heaps of Clearfield. Airman Richard P. Clarkson has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. During the six weeks of training the airman studied Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the grandson of retired Air Force Paul O. Lohman of Lay-to- n. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Robert M. Anderson, a flight engineer technician. has been named helicopter aircrewman of the quarter. Selection was based on the individuals exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, sigand othnificant er accomplishments. His wife, Deborah, is the daughter of Donald Cleavenger of Clearfield. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Jack W. Chapman, a personnel supervisor, has arrived for duty at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. His wife, Sherri, is the daughter of Walter L. and Barbara Cox of Layton. Air Force Sgt. James D. an explosive ordnance disposal specialist, has arrived for duty at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. Atch-le- y, His wife, Ann, is the daughter of Morris B. Stoddard of Layton. Pvt. 1st Class April M. Furman, daughter of Cristine F. Furman of Clearfield and Robert J. Furman of Ilcrmiston, Ore., has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid, and Army history and traditions. She is a 1992 graduate of Clearfield High School. Capt. Ronald E. Opp II, son of Ronald E. and Lora S. Opp of Sunset, has graduated from the Squadron Officer School at Maxwell Air Force Base. Graduates of the school studied communication skills, international relations, manpower management, and responsibilities that prepare junior Air Force officers for command and staff duties. He is a computer systems engineer and his wife is the daughter of Robert D. and Florence R. Kostcr of Sunset. He is a 1972 graduate of Clearfield High School and a 1984 graduate of Brigham Young University. Air Force 2nd Lt, Ronald J. Daskevich, a satellite systems software analyst, has arrived for duty at Falcon Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colo. He is the son of retired Air Force Col. J. Ronald and Marsha L. Daskevich of Houston, Texas. His grandfather, Russ Massey, lives in Kaysville. The lieutenant is a 1987 graduate of Layton High School and a 1992 graduate of Weber State University. Marine Pvt.
