More quilters are needed in the quilting group. The center also needs to fill the Tuesday morning ceramics class. Call the center for more information. Bingo is at 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Participants are asked to bring a small food item such as a can of soup to use as a prize. There is no charge. A special senior citizen exercise class is held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 to Center, 544-123- 5 i The center will be closed on Tuesday. July 24. A contest is being held during July where seniors who bring the largest number of new people to lunch will receive prizes. A bridge group is being organized. Those interested call the center for more information. The 55 Alive Class will be taught on July 16 and 17 from 9 to 1:30 a.m. and from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Completion of the class , $ 1 11. A basic clothing construction sewing class is taught on Fridays at 9 a.m. There is room for more students. Patsy Seach, who is now director A special program on UTA services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 11:45 a.m. UTA routes, how to ride the bus and passes will be discussed. Reservations are being taken for the next trip to Wendover. The cost is $10 plus package and cash back to Nevada Crossing. The center is still trying to form musical and choral groups. Seniors who like to sing or play a musical instrument are encouraged to call the center. Plan now to attend the senior fair picnic on Thursday, Aug. 2 at noon. Blood pressure clinic is on the first Thursday of the month at 10:45 a.m. Ceramics are taught on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Oil painting class is on Tuesday, porcelain class on Thursday and bingo on Wednesday. Members recently elected Lay-to-n businessman Ken Cuthbert to replace Tom Winegar as head of the community service organization. Its going to be a few years before Carly can join in WalkAmerica. One of the plans I'd like to see us do this year is to be able to ; support in equipment purchase or some service to the senior citizens group at the Autumn Glow ' (senior citizens center), Cuthbert said. Cuthbert, who works in the First Security Bank commercial loan department, has been a member of the Layton Rotary Club for about six years. He has been involved in other service organizations such as the Ogden and Logan Kiwanis clubs. He . will serve as president of the Lay- -; ton Rotary for a year. Layton Rotary is a group of business men and women within the framework of Rotary International. Locally, the club has been , involved in projects that promote public safety, recreation and education. The club has set up a $750 . scholarship fund at Layton High School. They support Layton Eagle Scouts with an ongoing pro- gram to present the Scouts with a specially designed handkerchief. Last summer they purchased and installed playground equipment for the Davis Family Support Center. They also support a public safety program in local elementary schools in conjunction with the Layton police.
