Show Lakeside Review, Tuesday, July 3, 1990 1 1 'LakesideCpmnliiility J 9f WLWJI 1,111 Patriotic comedy house, Wasatch Play- Utahs newest communi- ty theater, will feature the patriotic musical comedy, George M in its upcoming production in July. The play will run July 7, 9, 12, 13, and 14 in the Layton High auditorium, 440 Wasatch Dr. Curtain time is at 7:30 p.m. each night. The production is under the direction of Mac Edwards and features a cast of 43. Taking the title role of George Cohan is local favorite J.D. Stokes, who is. also serving as one of the shows choreographers. Cohans family as are Nancy Bishop as Nellie, and Teresa Gomm as Josie with Jennifer Maughan and Diane Petersen performing the roles of Georges first and second wife, respectively. Cohan is best remembered as an outstanding vaudevillian at the turn of the century. As a composer his works include Yankee Doodle Dandy, Give My Regards to Broadway, and Youre a Grand Old Flag. A statue bearing his likeness stands in Harold Square in New York City. George M is produced in conjunction with the Layton City Councils 4th of July Cele- - East.
