Successful anglers fish deep. Shoreline suc- it- ri- cess is slow. Bear River - Upper Bear - should be good in n, fishing, supplemental stocking Lower - some very low spots, offers fair fishing. Blacksmith Fork - Excellent stream condl- tions, remember flies and lures only stretch and slot limit (two fish under 12 inches, one over 18 Inches). Causey Res. - Great place for a canoe or other small boat; stocked periodically with catchables. East Canyon Creek - No recent report. Lots of private land 50 iis 5h as c- ut ,t- - derwater trees and ledges. Water level Is low. Best success with boat. Porcupine Res. Kokanee success is good. Try trolling at various depths with shiny silver and red artificials. Rockport Res. Slow fishing, trolling Is best. Very good fishing, trolling has worked best. Great facilities - 2 campgrounds. Stoddard Slough - Lots of people on small water; good success; stocked with rainbow catchables periodically. Uinta Lakes - Lakes along Highway ISO are stocked periodically this summer and should mile from offer great fishing. Lakes V.-highway, have some real nice brook trout and cutthroats. Most back country lakes have fish , available. , Upper Provo R. - Low water. Some good fishing success from Deer Creek to Woodland. Closed by the Jordanelle Dam. Weber River Upper: waters clear; people are catching fish with flashy lures or flies. Lower Good fishing reported in the lower portions of the river (near mouth of Weber Canyon). Recently stocked. Willard Bay Catfish success is very good; 1 mile across the dike in the evenings has been best. Some success for walleye. Woodruff Res. - Low water. Creek should offer good fishing. Big Cottonwood Creek, Mill Creek, City Creek A Silver Lake - Good to excellent. Stocked recently with rainbow trout. Deer Creek Res. Nice rainbows taken from boats on popgear and worm. Shore fishing success has slow. Trolling near the mouth of the Provo river should offer best success. Provo River - Running high and clear, makes angling difficult, but still offers success. Browns are taking flies above Olmstead. Beware of special regs. Not enough fishermen for the population of fish between Murdock Dlv. & Olmstead Div. Red Fleet Res, - Fair success on bass. Some larger rainbows are being taken Starvation Res. Fair for walleye and small mouth bass Some browns being caught. Stemaker Res. - Trout action is slow Fair for bass, good for bluegill. No pressure. Water level is low and dropping Uintah Lakes - Good fishing all lakes and rivers are providing lots of fish. Heavy pressure. Unpredictable weather so come prepared All lakes stocked. Beaver Mountain Lakes Good success for rainbow and brook Stocked and access. River Good Beaver fair for rainbows Excellent on boulder Boulder Mountains top, rim and lower lakes Good for brook and cutthroat Flies are best following the hatch. Good success trolling with pop-ge- ar Fish Lake or still fishing All roads are Thousand Lake Mountains open with rough access Good to excellent with worms and flies Good place for kids Lake Powell - Stripers are at 25-4- 0 ft. depths. Crouse - Fishing Is good with large rainbows being taken Water level is extremely low. Currant Creek. Res. - Good success. Larger rainbows and cutthroats being taken. Heavy pressure on weekends. Flaming Gorge Good success for kokanee, rainbow and lake trout. Bass are in the warmer surface water. Excellent success from boats by dam using ilgs and trolling at 40 ft. with tripple teaser or wobblers. Shore fishing is best by swim beach near coves using baits. Green River - Good success using most any artificial fly or lure. Matt Warner Res. - Good success for rainbows and cutthroats. Excellent trolling. Heavy pressure, especially on weekends. Moon Lake Low water. Stocked heavily With good fishing. Paradise, East A Oaks Park - Lots of pressure, good success for large fish. Pelican Lake - Bass success is good. Bluegill success is still slow. Red Creek Res. Slow success. Low water - - Sports briefs in y as le nAarle of 2468 Deer Run Drive, South Weber was the first to win the Richard Bouchard Memorial 10-run. The youngest to complete the race were Jed Poll and his cousin Brad Poll. A memorial baton was passed among community members during the race in the memory of Richard R. Bouchard, a young man who helped organized the race for years and who was killed last summer in an auto accident. He was the son of Mayor Rex Bouchard. Echo Reservoir Fishing is spotty, but Improving Deep trolling 40 ft. or deeper has worked the best. Holmes Creek Res. Bluegill and crappie activity should be good, try small ngs and baits in the brush. Hvrum Res. - Was chemically treated 727. Will be stocked in early September. Logan River Excellent fishing, stream conditions very good, impoundments stocked with catchables. Lost Creek Res. - Some good catches of 10-inches Bear Lake cutthroat. Best success has been by the inlet. Mantua Res. - Very weedy. Offers excellent fishing if you can outsmart the weeds. Lots of fish Fair-goo- d Mill Hollow success; good location for summer fishing, try variety of baits Newton Res. Plenty of fish available. The rainbows are getting in the warm water. Ogden River - Heavy pressure. Excellent fishing conditions; From Pmeview fo town is great for browns Town section is stocked with rainbow catchables Pineview Res. - Good for bluegill. Try un - - K SOUTH WEBER Taking first place honors in the South Weber County Fair Days Golf Tournament was the n team of Gary Schench, Tom Stanger, Rod Stanger and Randy Hilton. The team won the n scramble with a 10 under par score. He went on to say that Bouchard was one of the most talented and adequate people he has known. Mayor Bouchard accepted the plaque and said the support of the community was a great comfort in helping them through their asking loss. K state-wid- Clinton registers for hunter's education CLINTON The Clinton Re creation Department is currently accepting registration for its fall hunter education course. The program is designed to promote responsible hunting practices and is taught by Bob Green, a certified Department of Wildlife Resources instructor. Classes will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, evenings from 6 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 7 at the Clinton City Community Center located at 1906 W. 1800 N. The registration fee is $7 per person, ages 1 1 and older, pay- -, able at the Clinton City offices up to Sept. 7. The classes are limited to 50 students. An unscheduled event started off the evening. Several had to 1 pitch in to round up the sheep that escaped. Once that was accomplished the younger children started with the sheep ride. Winning the category for the 5 s was Corey Volt. In the r. 7 age bracket was Justin 4-- year-old- Fes-sle- 6-- Chnsty Stark who is no stranger to rodeo events won the calf nde in the 9 year old category. Stark says she gets a little scared before an event and would like to have horse barrel racing next year. 2 Quinn Stark won in the old age group. year Veteran clown Val Byram and his son Quint were on hand to rescue the participants and entertain the crowd. Byram has been a 8-- 10-1- clown for twenty years. He was a bareback horse and bull rider before becoming a clown. Byram says he got into clowning for the excitement. In one Rodeo he took on ninety three bulls in three days. Making his debut as a clown was Cody Stark, age 5. Starks twin sister, Jody competed in the rodeo. The goat throw had two age categories. Blake Fessler won the 7 year olds and Dash Schenck won the 9 year olds. The goat tie was reserved for 1 the year old age group, which Quinn Stark won. Two rodeo competitors were on hand to officiate for the evening.
